  1. Which is why I was asking for peoples first hand experience, because regardless how much you quote chapter and verse on how its wrong it does happen!! I wanted to hear from people that have been pulled by the old bill for running their mog or truck as ag reg and what happened but instead my theard got derailed into a debate by yourself getting on your soapbox after I asked for people not to do that and now the thread is dead because nobody will be willing to share their experiences infear of being preached to by outhouse barristers. Cheers
  2. I do like my tackle porn mogs et etc but I love our family car!! My saab 93 in burgandy is great it looks like a right grandad machine but its been tweeked to near 300bhp and when you spend all week knocking about in the tractor at 40k then get in the saab on the weekend its like a rocket ship
  3. Get it looked at it should handle a load+trailer. Old terry taliban pulls like feck with 3.5 m3 and the jensen on the plant trailer. Def going to get a tipper back sorted out with a bigger box on it. I'm sick of digging the bugger out!! I was half thinking about getting a lpg v8 disco just to pull the tipping trailer with chipbox on it but its more and more money.
  4. To be fair the whole point of this thread is to establish whether or not its worth winging it to put it plainly. If I can get away with running a commercial as ag reg and not pay for my cat c, operators license , tax, commercial insurance and a maintenence agreement then I would!! If its not worth winging it ill keep running the tractor and im sure we could start a 100 page debate on wether I run it outside of what customs and excise state as the letter of the law.
  5. Yeah I have b+e I just dont have c. When I was on about 750kg payload I ment the vehicle. I read somewhere that when down plating you still need to allow for upto 750kg of payload to avoid being over loaded when you get 2 chubbers and their butty box and flasks in there
  6. Actually are you not ment to have a min payload of 750kg included in your 3.5t gvw??
  7. Nice needs to be done!! Have you got any pics?? Seems heavy is it a radio body?? Or just the normal ragtop with lockers in the bed. It's a shame they can't tow the full 3.5t as im sure their more upto it than a defender or a landcruiser.
  8. You know the navara though and its history it dosn't look tired to me just yet rip the tub off and get it in the workshop!!
  9. I can see it now 6ftx4ft bed but about 9ft tall:biggrin: By my calculations thats about 5m3!!!
  10. Rob I think you need a new challenge!! Get yourself a bedford rascal tipper
  11. Fantastic!!! Thats really great stuff and it looks the part!! I personally dont mind nato green haha but yes if it matched the greenmech that would be the icing on the cake
  12. Well you've been running the truck for abit now and must have had many a load in it. Give us a write up and a few more pick's bud. How's it drive loaded how does it tow stop etc is numb in tight spots or quite nimble. Have you had it off the hardstanding yet. What MPG you getting what road speed is it happy at. Looking forward to your reply
  13. Great info guys!! I currently run a l200 with chip box and a jensen 530 on a ifor plant trailer behind. If it dosn't fit in the l200 then i have a ford 7840 with 12t grain trailer+sides holds 20m3. The problem i have is yesterday i had 3 of what i call back garden jobs, The l200 holds 3.5m3 and i filled it at each job. Now transits and the likes can't carry much more without being overloaded and as pointed out can get stuck on a dogturd. I need 4x4 and capacity but i'm a bit reluctant to go the mog route mainly down to price. Ideally i want a 10t Daf 4x4 with hiab/rotator/grab and the tipper body from a 7.5t 2wd Daf. So whats the chance of running this setup Ag reg on white on a car license
  14. Mr Rainford the king of overloadedness
  15. I use a l200 single cab with chipbox made from inch box section and galve sheet with foamex sign written boards on them. Looks just as good as ally and its hundreds cheaper!! Tipper back going on before the back end.
  16. To be fair with it being such a grey area id be running on white. As for a transit I wouldnt buy one with your money
  17. Good stuff so far guys keep it up!! How about licenses?? Are you driving them on normal car licence like a tractor or do you have cat c?? Im interested in either a rb44 or maybe a daf 4x4 but only have a post 97 license, would these be driven on a car license if ag reg or does it not make a difference.
  18. Right guys i wanna hear from people that are running AG reg trucks!! Before anyone jumps on quoting chapter and verse of VOSA this and that if you don't run or have run an AG reg truck refrain from adding info plz as i really want first hand exp. Everything from vehicle type, tax class, fuel type and any run ins with ministry, police etc. I know many class it as a grey area but i'm trying to work out weather or not it's worth operating in this grey area. From reading previous posts in the past quite afew others seem to be in the same boat as me and would benefit from members compiling as much personal 1st experience as possible in one place. Many thanks guys and girls
  19. I put a chipbox on my l200 made out of box section and galve sheet for £100 including chip catcher. Get handy with the welder and angle grinder
  20. I know they did a straight six, six litre perkins phaser but i thought the RB44 had the 110t which was a four cylinder turbo?? Are you sure your truck has two extra cylinders?
  21. Cheers Rob every little helps:001_smile: I'm getting there with the climbing and i feel working with other climbers is the most beneficial aid to improving. I suppose it's like anything really you have to put the hrs in. I'm quick with a saw because i've been felling and processing timber for over 10 yrs. So by that rule i've only got another 8 yrs of climbing before i pass for good
  22. I'm with huck looks like a a 3ton igland. They generally run 2 different diameter wires.
  23. Rule of thumb..................Always go and veiw first and be objective!!!! Always have pound note in your pocket and always take someone with you. Buying machinary unseen is foolish full stop in my opinion.
  24. Yeah and about 72" deep with your chip box rob  Never seen owt like it.......I'm building one as we speak!!
