  1. Wow thats some propper Ramabo shenanigans right there!!! I know a gamekeeper that used to hang fishing trebles at about eyebrow height on the door to his phesant pen!! He's an utter looney aswell!! It takes all sorts to make a world:001_smile:
  2. There was a couple of 4x4 sprinter tippers on ebay, one with a hoist on it too. Other than that like old mills says Iveco's seem to be quite popular. Grunty engines.
  3. Nice where do you buy these from then!!!
  4. Nothing the old major couldn't handle :) crank the diesel pump untill the stack turns black!!! Then keep going lol
  5. Take the tail lift off, buy some 2" box section, 1mm galv sheet and some far east 18mm ply then set to with the welder and pop rivets. It's the cheapest servicable option of building a chipbox that looks the part. I put put a chipbox on the back of my single cab l200 for £80.
  6. As the title say's people, Saw operator with cs30,31,38,39, saw's/equipment PPE etc along with 4x4 and TW150 tracked chipper. Based near Preston and will work throughout the NW, will travel further if fuel costs are covered. Day rate £225 Weekly rate can be negotiated. I check my PM's daily or call me anytime on 07702788870. Many thanks Gareth
  7. Findus are cornering the market on the tv in the horse power department at the moment
  8. I thought greater bar length = more drive links = more weight/drag. I find chain pitch makes most difference to cutting speed. 3/8 rules:rock:
  9. Arhhh thats cute!! I'll put that on my wifes key ring lol

    First saw

I have a 211 and it's an ok saw. Light weight nice and handy to have next to chipper for nipping up awkward unions that wont go through. If i where you i'd look at a second hand ms390 or similar. Their still light, run a 3/8 chain and when a 16" bar is fitted it's a potent package. Still enough grunt to run a 20" bar if needed. I personally have a 048 with 20" bar that i use most lol it's big heavy with bags of grunt and when you've used it all week you know you've earned your cash. But it's robust and will run forever!
  11. Yeah point taken, it's never going to meet any acceptable levels of production but it is still very cool:001_smile:
  12. Efco are the second oldest 2 stroke engine maker in the world and if you go back to the 80's 90's im sure you'll find their engines in stihl's and husky's and just about every other petrol tool manufacturer. They only started making tools around 2000 i think. I've had a 132s top handle which was under powered and replaced with a 200t but i've also had 136,4210sp,156, ground saws and i still have the 136 in the shed. Cracking saw's for the money and a world apart from the chinese saw's.
  13. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8De09oBSw1o]ELIET "Major" Chipper - YouTube[/ame] Why not consider one of these if its just used for hedges. It's hydraulic feed roller and rated at 3". They go on the bay for about 1k.
  14. The 20"x30" shredder hopper deals with hedging quite well we've done quite alot of hawthorn and beech hedging with it. It's been quite good being able to put knarly bits through the top and larger straight bits through the chipper on the side. I know many people rage about cs100's,tw13g's and jb's but the choke point on all of them is the hopper. The 20hp kohler engine is a bit of a little monster aswell. As for hydraulic machines there is a drum chipper/shreeder hybrid similar to the negri type chipper on ebay but it's alot dearer than 2k. I'll see if i can find a link.
  15. To be fair 2k will get you a dog of a hydraulic feed roller chipper. I have a 5" gravity feed bearcat with the big shreader hopper on the top complete with blower. I want about £1500 for it and it's a good first chipper but you would need a quad or ride on to tow it about or behind a 4x4. It's a well put together simple machine but i've upgraded to a TW150 vtr and it's just sat in the barn now not doing owt.
  16. I just finished a job for Truck on here and i would have killed to have this thing for the week!! It was a woodland covering a victorian water treatment works. A big reed bed on the side of a hill, mega soft!! He's gonna have to wait till the height of summer to get the timber out. Get it bought Laurie :)
  17. Nice little fast tow low impact machine. Get away with towing it on a 3.5t trailer. Even has a little winch on it for skidding. Bet it'll get places an alpine and trailer wont go too.
  18. Check this out it's propper smart!! FORESTRY KUBOTA TIMBER TRACT FORWARDER | eBay Bet it belongs to someone on here lol
  19. Great info :thumbup1: I'll be sure to look out for that course.
  20. Nope thats why i had a copy of my nptc's on my phone. This was a royal mail site so was way more anal than most places but it seems to be the way everything is going. I'm looking to consentrate on being a full time subby as i don't mind traveling and domestic arb is a hiding to nothing around me. Thats why i want to get the more desirable tickets contractors are looking for. Also thinking about doing my PTS tickets too.
  21. What lvl of first aid is required for site clearance work?? I looked on red cross website and there are a few different courses from billy basic starting at £60 right upto first in the workplace which is £350!! I was hoping it's the first one lol I was on a site at Walton summit in Preston last week and the hoops we had to jump through with site inductions and the likes was unreal and if it wasn't for the fact that i had a copy of my nptc's on my phone none of us would have got on site!! As it stood i was the only one felling while the other two where feeding the 12" chipper on the back of the tractor.
  22. Isn't the iron horse not just a tracked barrow with a winch instead of a skip? As stated above if it's on the job anyway do it. If your looking into moving into small scale extraction buy a cheap quad and make a log arch. Proberly put the two together for a grand off the bay.
  23. What standard of first aid is required? Cheers
  24. Near Garstang ted.
  25. Your still too cheap good luck.
