  1. Think I have an old 12 or 14" bar off a 010av which I kept thinking it would fit my 200 bit it doesn't. Your welcome to it for FOC if it'll fit.
  2. Looms sweet. Has the screw snapped right inside the carb?
  3. First link no working but second does. That's pretty good going isn't it?
  4. Dunno could be, I've been had 3 ms170 and a 180 and changed the oil pump or had to take it to bits to clean more times than I'd like to. Kinda given up on them
  5. Is nice when you get regular marlin spike hitches sent up but if I get anything else it's never that tricky to deal with tbh and doesn't bug me too much Pretty easy to teach the Marlin spike too
  6. Are they wanting new? Ms170 is more or less the same and cheaper again. My local builders merchants sell for ms180 for 180 and ms170 for around 130. They are ok. Oil pumps are wack. Personally I'd get a used GWO saw for same money. As you get a whole lot more saw.
  7. I used the mc150 and mc175 for this but for tiny writing id use the sk100 palm tool with a gentle mallet! For lettering you could start off with a v gauge meybs 70 and a flat sweep would get you started in the sk100 range. But for a little bit more you get a whole range. E.g http:// http://www.ebay.com/itm/332379984201 They have doubled in price since I bought my last set 7 yrs ago! Is go for a set, you get much more for you money and you'll find a use for the ones you didn't think you'd need
  8. I studied sculpture in Edinburgh then right after got a job humping brash for a tree surgeon. And from there started carving milling etc once I'd got used to using saws. Got a few lucky breaks with council commissions schools etc ( they all skint now) so managed to build a up a bit work as a folio..... But I have never advertised or even got a business card all work has been through word of mouth. If you keen to do it just crack on, and be prepared to be a bit skint for a bit of say. But you have to do it to get the work if that makes sense rather than the other way round
  9. What were you doing on a cider press in your pjs?
  10. Think there has been some poor reviews of straps breaking etc. For what it's worth I wouldn't bother....
  11. Never used a router and never had a proper play with dremel, but found a a couple decent chisel to be good. Flexcut make a few different sizes and work well. What size lettering and in what wood? Less easy to get detail doing small lettering on softwood.
  12. I guess not everyone wants to be an expert. Some folk I reckon are pretty happy just being told to get up there and reduce it by 20%. They get some fun toys and enjoy themselves along the way.........certainly a bit of that in me if I'm totally honest. I'm wack with Latin names, soft wood ID, fungus ID, and still climb on a prussock. But I love climbing, and have a passion for treating trees nice and trying to do my best for them.
  13. I climb part time and do wood carving, milling, furniture making and sculpture the rest of the time. Goes well together, don't get bored and hopefully as my body gets older (32 now) I'll just slip into climbing less......spect I'll always be messing on with trees one way or the other. Head is firmly in the sand regarding pensions though....be interesting to hear what others do?
  14. Bahco double pulley pruner hook head seems to do everything I ask of it. As above if the end of pole is sitting on the deck you can pull really hard on cord ( which is pretty thick and strong)
  15. It's on my app too. Its someething to do with the app only not the website. Apparently it's just something that happens. Might be an explanation on the glitches thread. Throws up some good ones from time to time
  16. Nah didn't think you were! It's a pal of mines that I'm trying to get sorted for him. Will mention it to him see what he says. Ta
  17. Any one got any clues as to where to look for one?
  18. That is s pretty hilarious pic up above..... with my aus pole saw I can usually just extend it until the bottom can sit on the floor so o can pull firmly with either 1 or 2 hands. If the poppers have slightly bitten on then you can pull the branch down a bit to the ground. This is with the hook parrot type loppers That possible with what you got?
  19. Yeah some nice felling. Lovely looking woods you got round your parts too. Apparently the stunt fell rules mean they only qualify for stunt status if you priced the job to dismantle and then you felled though. Not spam, just suddenly quite a lot to look at!
  20. Used saws are like used cars. Total gamble but can save you serious money. Ideally you need to have a go for 10 mins with it to be sure it's all ok. But usually you can tell if a saw has been ragged by how scratched it looks. This however does not mean it's not been well maintained. I buy lots of used saws over new. If on eBay or gum tree I usually want to have a chat with someone see if they seem ok and if they know what they are on about....
