  1. Howd you fettle the carb?
  2. Aye seems to hold its own pretty well. See if that huskys still going in 25 or 30yrs?
  3. Ok nae bother. This is the one I have;
  4. Here is an ok used one and knackered one
  5. Hit the cylinder with some wet and dry paper see if you can get it nice and smooth again, you'd be surprised what you can get away with. As long as the nikosil out coating is ok you'll be fine. Bit hard to tell from pics. Can't really see side of piston in pics that's the bit that will be worn. Carbon on top will clean off.
  6. I lived above a pub on Leith walk called the old salt, it used to open at 5am, regularly folk with hi vizs and builders hats on having a few shandies at 7am......must make for a hard day's work ahead of you.
  7. Yeah heard that the likes of balfour beattie etc are doing some drug testing. Reckon it's all fair enough really, spose it would be good if they can differentiate between having a tooot on a Friday night and being real high at work....don't think they differentiate ( hope I'm wrong). Blah blah think we covered this a while back?
  8. Yep I learnt how to do lots myself cos I was sick of being told saws were beyond economical repair, or paying for 2 hrs labour at 45 an hour then finding the saw wasn't fixed etc...
  9. Aye I was going to chime in with some ideas but the lad will be a while doing all the random tests that have been suggested already!
  10. So many cooks! Good luck fixing yer saw pal!
  11. Another ace vid. Thanks. They them xtra big x rings your using? ( can someone remind me where to get them pre spliced into a deadeye?) Also was that branch on fire? Wtf! You show a split in the tree but couldn't tell where about it's was height wise ?
  12. You'd be surprised how many people are "puffin' the 'erb". don't reckon it's unique to tree work.
  13. If the crank is full of oil will it not be jizzing out the impulse line?
  14. 20 minutes! I have done 100s of these saws and you can complete rebuild them in 80 seconds
  15. Think I have an old 12 or 14" bar off a 010av which I kept thinking it would fit my 200 bit it doesn't. Your welcome to it for FOC if it'll fit.
  16. Looms sweet. Has the screw snapped right inside the carb?
  17. First link no working but second does. That's pretty good going isn't it?
  18. Dunno could be, I've been had 3 ms170 and a 180 and changed the oil pump or had to take it to bits to clean more times than I'd like to. Kinda given up on them
  19. Is nice when you get regular marlin spike hitches sent up but if I get anything else it's never that tricky to deal with tbh and doesn't bug me too much Pretty easy to teach the Marlin spike too
  20. Are they wanting new? Ms170 is more or less the same and cheaper again. My local builders merchants sell for ms180 for 180 and ms170 for around 130. They are ok. Oil pumps are wack. Personally I'd get a used GWO saw for same money. As you get a whole lot more saw.
  21. I used the mc150 and mc175 for this but for tiny writing id use the sk100 palm tool with a gentle mallet! For lettering you could start off with a v gauge meybs 70 and a flat sweep would get you started in the sk100 range. But for a little bit more you get a whole range. E.g http:// http://www.ebay.com/itm/332379984201 They have doubled in price since I bought my last set 7 yrs ago! Is go for a set, you get much more for you money and you'll find a use for the ones you didn't think you'd need
  22. I studied sculpture in Edinburgh then right after got a job humping brash for a tree surgeon. And from there started carving milling etc once I'd got used to using saws. Got a few lucky breaks with council commissions schools etc ( they all skint now) so managed to build a up a bit work as a folio..... But I have never advertised or even got a business card all work has been through word of mouth. If you keen to do it just crack on, and be prepared to be a bit skint for a bit of say. But you have to do it to get the work if that makes sense rather than the other way round
  23. Quality stategy
  24. What were you doing on a cider press in your pjs?
  25. For mashing apples then?
