  1. Shouldn't really have one as a team leader though eh?
  2. Also hold it by just the starter cord. Should slowly unwind as saw falls or not at all, if this happens quickly then def low comp
  3. Check underside for scratches and how rusty exhaust is as this indicates age/use. Things that may need replacing are av mounts , clutch drium/sprocket etc. Check bolts are all present as missing ones can indicate knackered threads. Make sure it will idle for a good while then not cut out when you rev it again. Check revs do not drastically alter when angle of saw is changed. Make sure brake is working. No way I would buy a used 290 for 300 quid though. Plenty decent saws about for under 200 or pro ones for 300.... where abouts are you based? Good luck!
  4. Dan, hope this runs and works well for you. Personally can't help feel your better off buying a scrap own saw and stripping it and rebuilding then ending up with something which will definately last years. Very keen to see how this lasts though.
  5. Looks good! Any vids of it cutting?
  6. My cousin's husband was telling me to buy loads of bit coins back when they were starting. Think he has completely paid off his mortgage etc now......wish I had listened!
  7. Once you have yet saw ticket why no ask for a few weeks work experience chipping for someone? Would be a good taster
  8. The are a few ok dealers on eBay. Potentially harry the cat ( has he been on here?) But generally agree with spud. I have a ms200 backhandle for sale and a ea5000 Makita ( on its first bar) if either will float yet boat

  12. Piston ring fitted, saw back together and seems to be running sweet. Havent given it a good run as no bar and chain but revs and idles fine. What a bar stuart that carb is to fit back in, fiddly!
  13. Nice truck btw! Had 2 mk2s a mk3 and just sold the mk4!

  15. Couple of lime reductions today on the sub. Not a single saw started all day. Climbed with another climber - refreshingly different reducing a tree with some else climbing too. And much faster! Many phone lines amongst the second one.
  16. Wait till your climbing with it and you'll reach for the lighter one every time! But agreed on the deck 660!
