  1. All very fair points. I'm no stranger to making an arse of myself anyway! If these events were better promoted I'd happily have a stab at the beginner circuit. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  2. If there was an event accommodating mediocre climbers with appalling throw line skills I'd be all over it like a rash. Honestly, it sounds intimidating to get into, and the bigger boys might be mean to me! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  3. Pretty sure it's 3/8, but I'll be sure to check Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  4. I might be quicker footlocking in a mankini. A true climber would see the weight saving advantages Steve Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  5. Mankini footlocking? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  6. Have a few beers fella. Make it more interesting. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  7. Give us big shots and foam balls? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  8. Tried to PM you but your inbox is full: I bought a 36" Oregon Powermatch bar for my Stihl 056. I've used it twice and now my saw is buggered and they don't make parts for it. It's only been used on two very short occasions, and has two chains with it. One brand new, the other us used but barely. If you are interested in an "as new" bar/chains then I'm after £90 They were £140 half a days use ago. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  9. I'm in that camp. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  10. 'Fraid I'm way north of you mate, in Rugby. Didn't check. If I bump into you at one of the shows I'd be interested to see how you got on, since I love the logic of a decent ascent system but I'm too much of a commitophobe to invest in a system which may not work in all those 40" connies I specialise in. 11. If you like you can try my barely used velocity. I'd love to try your haas! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  12. Good on you, it should come quickly. If you want to be good at something, it tends to happen IMO. Nah, there's as bit of a trend for climbers to become primadonnas (crashing a huge bit down then having a rolly while the poor lads below scramble to clear it), it's a standing joke on our team. Seems he was just suggesting that's how you should climb. Scottish humour can be tricky sometimes Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  13. It was a bit of tongue in cheek mate that's all. He's right, once you've got a bit of full on experience you'll be able to relate. I love a bit of competition between me and my ground crew. They take great pleasure in telling me they've run out of brash if they're keeping on top of it, and vice versa if they're not. Don't focus too much on dashing around like a stabbed rat. Keep steady, plan your work as you go, and watch other climbers. If you keep it up one day you'll be slick and efficient and you won't have even noticed the transition. Slow is smooth and smooth is fast. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  14. Sounds like a possible air leak causing low compression perhaps. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  15. It was tongue in cheek OMT. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  16. I think Adam Bourne posted a video on just how lethal SRT opposed to Ddrt. These guys clearly have no sense of self preservation. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  17. I got a griffin survivor case for sub 20 quid for my 4s. Bulky as hell, and the rubber exterior pulls my pocket lining out with it every time. But it's cheaper than insurance and feels safe. The screen is protected too. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  18. Our apprentice was bought one by his uncle. I didn't want to like it either. It would be so easy to ridicule if it wasn't just right. "How much?! Does it comb your hair for that price?!" Etc. I tried it on and my heart sank. It's lovely. Best helmet I've tried so far. Pfanner really got it right, as usual. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  19. You have a point. Well put. I think the thing that pissed most people off, however, was not his contrasting viewpoint, but his baiting then reporting other dealers. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  20. Couldn't agree more. Put a 12" on it and drill the muffler. For a cheap saw its a great giggle. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  21. Haha told. Clearly an unbiased opinion eh? @ the OP: you should only ever buy Stihl saws, from Scotland, NEVER online. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  22. I borrower my mates weaver back when I first started out, for a weekender. It was a large and I'm a 30" waist! Bloody awful! Heavy as hell and hung round my ankles for most of the day! He says it's really comfy on chog downs though. I use a butterfly, which is pretty basic, but still miles ahead of the weaver IMO. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  23. Sorry darlin' Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  24. You can make all the facetious comments in the world, doesn't change anything. I have nothing against banter, but in this new PC world we all love, you should know better. Ive noticed a lot how discriminatory terms for Pakistani, or Nigerian are completely taboo, yet somehow the Chinese are fair game? Also the term "chink" still seems more acceptable than the aforementioned. Seems bizarre. Anyway, seems I'm the only one to take offense, I'll but out, didn't wanna kick up a stink. As you were, ladies... Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  25. Good for you, and your mates. I have friends with different ethnic backgrounds also, and we all take the mock out of each other. However joking amongst friends and putting it on an Internet forum are different things. And yes. Your remark was racist. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
