  1. I'll shave my back in anticipation xxx
  2. Can I sub a couple of my crappier jobs out to you? I have very soft hands...
  3. I only use the thicker line for snatching big lumps. Positive rigging, the line should easily handle most average bits. Try to avoid shock loading the bigger stuff. I'm sure someone can offer average loads that this rope can take.
  4. I've dreamt of this moment...
  5. Does this count? 12mm Sirius bull rope | F R Jones and Son I use it at work, its great for smallish rigging. I wouldn't rig lumps with it though. £72, if you can afford an extra couple of quid
  6. I hope so too mate. Nice to play with a big saw
  7. Nah mate, at college you get nice 15" softwood Wedges are a good idea. I also have a small husqvarna felling bar. I use it to tap wedges in, break off chunks if I can cut all the way through, and also roll the stem. Very useful.
  8. A useful tip I picked up for processing large timber is when you start a top cut, go it about half way, pull out, cut a little wedge from your top cut, and knock it in with the bar. DIY wedge to prevent a cut closing. I'm sure someone can explain better than me.
  9. nothing wrong with it, you just need to hold your camera straighter
  10. I plugged my earphones into my iPhone the other day while ringing up a 30" stem with a 460. Every time I throttled up the saw my music stopped. Weirdest thing. Maybe to do with the electromagnetics?
  11. Possibly running ultra rich - in burnt fuel coming out the exhaust? What have you changed the fuel ratio to, and why? Check the air filter is clean too, and remove that mesh!
  12. It will be a personal weekend saw. I quite like the "0 Series" stihls. The husqy sounds decent, but the stihls are much more available s/h on the bay.
  13. Cheers for the tip. What's the torque like in comparison? Nobody has any opinion of the 028v026? Like I said, I'm used to stihl, never owned a husky or even used one to any extent, that's why I'm not familiar with their saws.
  14. Never heard of it mate, I've only got stihl (not through any personal preference). Is it a contender? You got one for sale?
  15. Haha pm me what you want for it, might be a a month or so til I'm ready to buy mind. I'd be interested to hear the difference between the two!
  16. As above, looking at getting a 50cc saw, in the Stihl 0 series. These are my options, to run on a 15/16" bar. Which one would you recommend and why?
  17. Very nice to watch mate. Out of interest how were you getting the line back to you near the beginning? What's that 16mm stuff like? Spot on rigging too Mark. Are you still using the stein 2000 thingy? How long did the job take? 3 men on it? Bet the smell down there was a good motivation to get it done quick
  18. Can anyone provide a link to the HSE/AFAG regs stating that the use of chainsaw gloves is subject to risk assessment? One of our lads is going on his 30/31 in a week and it'd be interesting to see if he can excuse himself from using gloves. As an aside, was anyone else made to wear protective gloves on their course, whilst their instructor refused?
  19. This has happened to me once, was quite panicky, but I managed to stand up on the rope and loosen the knot. I think that's why the klemheist is used, it's relatively easy to unbind.
  20. Do you have anything to back that up? I've not noticed any ill effects, and I doubt my technique is perfect! It's a good ab workout too! That said, I rarely climb a tree that can't be climbed with ladders then alternate lanyard.
  21. A herd is only as strong as it's weakest link. When the herd is hunted it is the weaker slower members that are picked off. The effect of this is that the herd gets faster as it's slower members are eradicated. Alcohol works in a similar way. It picks off the slower weaker brain cells, which is why you always feel smarter after a drink
  22. Most basic setup I use for access is 1x doubled rope isolated over a limb, 1x foot locking Prussik (long klemheist from anchor bridge to rope). I just footlock up. Never needed to descend this way, as once I reach the top I switch to ddrt.
  23. Thanks for humouring me, it's interesting learning about my namesake!
  24. Sod this, I'm getting a MEWP. Seriously though, Dalton explained it comprehensively enough for me to just about wrap my little brain around. Got any explanation for descending on a line to static?(I.e. Abseiling down using your hitch then coming to a stop)
