See my post Hodge, I've had the same problems, and the mesh goggles that Clarkes sell are the best thing I've used so far. Just don't look up in the rain.

They aren't. Stuff gets through them, especially when you're chogging down in the wind. The fella is after a pair, telling him he don't need 'em isn't exactly helpful! I used to use the Stein safety specs in yellow, brightens your day up, and they don't cost the earth. I now use safe eyes mesh goggles with no visor, best solution I've found yet.

Funny you should mention that. I had asparagus last night, and googled the funny smell. Some people produce it, others don't. Some people can smell it, others can't. It's to do with a sulphuric chemical in the veg. Personally I barely notice it over the normal smell of my balls.

It depends where you are. Pay scales vary massively depending on location. A climber in London can expect almost double my wage, not that they'll necessarily be any better off though. Round here a team leader might get £25-30k, depending on who they work for.

I know, the weight saving on that bar would be negligible, but it's pretty. I wouldn't use it in a tree as my topper does the job fine. Snedding, logging and felling small stuff is what I have in mind

13" on 50cc isn't silly is it? That said, the PNW and Uk seem at polar opposites in terms of bar length vs power. Sissies Y'see mate, this is why I farm my SE stuff out to you. Wayyy over my head! "Was I supposed to put 2 stroke oil in with the petrol?" Remember that bad joke!?

I've had both ISC and DMM ovals and they both stuck once the wether got bad. Since then I've used Petzl OK ovals and I can't fault them.

The spacer is there to stop the Sirius prussik squeezing the cheeks of the pulley together under load. I wouldn't recommend removing it.

Nice vid, one of your first thy I could watch through the arbtalk app. Do you find yourself often going straight from the "one-fiddy" to the 346? Bet your poor toppers feeling left out! Looked like a cold hands day.

The problem with asking a forum full of pro cutters is that we're blinkered. The majority of us use our saws every day so shelling out for the best tools makes sense to us. I'd be looking at a saw capable of pulling 18" with ease. The minimum I'd go for is 60cc, and my preference would be the 560xp, which carries a price tag of around £700. It's a belting saw, but is way over the top for what you need. Plus there's all the other stuff that goes with a pro saw: regular maintenance, high quality fuel and oil, and operator skill. In your shoes a sensible choice would be a 60cc Makita, which would be significantly cheaper, more forgiving, and plenty for your needs. If you must have a Stihl, their homeowner range is pretty much tailored for you. MS290 will pull an 18" bar, or a 390 will pull it faster. Many on here would snuff the idea, and I wouldn't buy one, but then we're in different categories of saw user.
