  1. Kind of gotta agree with rover, have you done Cs30?? MS200t`s are only meant for qualified, experienced climbers that have passed CS39. It is technically illegal to use a top handled chainsaw on the ground!
  2. I dunno about james but my chain doesnt spin at idle with the chainbrake off. I was told my problem was "just a stihl thing"!
  3. My 260 does the same, sometimes when deactivating the chainbrake it will just die!
  4. Its up for £150 starting bid on ebay, not sure if I would pay much more than that tbh!
  5. Cool, cheers spud! Any ideas on the bar lenghts it will run comefortably?
  6. Hi, I work as a groundie and currently use an MS260 as my ground saw but Im looking to get another saw as a backup and maybe something a little bigger than a 260 for ringing. There is a nice looking 268XP for sale local to me, has anyone got any experience of these saws? Regards, Anthony.
  7. If its making a clicking noise then thats the solinoid working, sounds like the starter motor needs looking at, it could be jammed or more than likely just needs taking apart and greasing. Prob best to take the starter motor off as its only a couple of bolts then check its working by using jump leads on it, just make sure your not holding it or near it when it spins! If it spins then your starter is working and your problem may be more serious, maybe a jammed flywheel. While you have the starter off it might be worth seeing if you can turn the starter ring by jamming a large screwdriver in one of the teeth on it, you should be able to turn it, might be a little hard to do but if that turns then you will know that your flywheel isnt jammed. Hope this makes sence!
  8. Dunno if its what your looking for but there is a tracked dumper on ebay with big low pressure tracks on it. Its one yu sit on so should carry a fair bit, type in "tracked dumper" and see what you think, its blue and the bidding was about £1000 when I last looked.
  9. Ooohhhh, suits you sir!
  10. I have been a groundie for a few months and have been using my MS260 with 16" bar. Its ok for most stuff but struggles abit when trying to ring 4 foot sections! Mind you its the only saw I have at the mo and has coped with almost everyting I have thrown at it, just keep it sharp!
  11. If anything comes up in cornwall then give me a shout, got Cs30/31, insurance, own equipment and transport. Clearance shouldntbe a prob as I worked for the MOD for 13 years!

Good luck mate, I recently did the same thing! Take your time with the cuts, trust me it will pay off!
  13. Hi, Self employed groundie avaliable in Cornwall, CS30/31, own saws, insurance and transport. Willing to work long or short term. PM me for more details:) Anthony.
  14. Well done mate, I have recently done the same thing, hope it all works out for you!
  15. Nice profile pic tom!
  16. Not a bad idea, could be improved by having the saw fixed onto the machine so it pivots and cuts the logs, simmilar to the saw horses you can get that clamp the chainsaw.
  17. Looks like some wheels, stub axles and a few brackets!
  18. Came through the post today, thanks gollum!!!!!!!!!!:)
  19. Sweet!
  20. Cheeky! lol! (comments like that won't get you homemade hoummous you know!)
  21. Cheers for the replies guys, gives me things to think about! The main reason for wanting a spare is as normandylumberjack says, it would be embarrasing/costly if the one saw I have developed a fault half way through a job! Thanks for your input:)
  22. Hi, I have just started working as a self employed sub contract groundie and was wondering what the ideal set up of saws would be in your opinion? I currently have an MS260 with 16"bar. I need to get another saw as I dont want to just rely on the 260 incase I have trouble with it while on a job. I was thinking of getting something like an MS361 so I have the flexability of cutting both small and large diameter wood. Does the following look like a good setup? MS260 with 13" bar (for snedding/delimbing and use next to the chipper) MS361 with 18" bar for the bigger stuff and ringing. I will keep the 16" bar for the 260 so I will have access to 13", 16" and 18". Any thoughts? Anthony.
  23. Cheers Gollum, PM sent!:)
  24. Ok, thanks for that!
