  1. Can anyone give me some advice on what saw to buy to start off with in general ground work and medium felling?.
  2. Thanks Chris, I see green woodworking as a hobby rather than a commercial activity, with the exception of Oak framing for traditional framed buildings. Just want to get outside and chop trees down and covert timber to start with and hopefully get a wage for it. thanks Rob
  3. Hi, I'm a 38 year old Carpenter looking to get into Forestry work. At moment I have little experience and no tickets/quals, but intend to go ahead with CS30/31 next month, what i do have is dedication, love of Forestry and Outdoors with a huge willingness to learn fast. I'm a Chippy so used to heavy graft and dangerous tools and machinery. I'd work for very little or free to gain some skills and experience. I live in Cleobury Mortimer, South Shropshire, can travel. many thanks Rob email: [email protected]
  4. Ty, Thanks for a fantastic offer, sadly Mold is over 2 hours from me. Great advice though, I do a bit of volunteering for the Forestry commission near me, but only manual clearance work, need to get into something thats gonna make be employable. cheers Rob
  5. Cheers Born2trot, Advertise as what though? at moment i have no experience in forestry. Basically i'm willing to work as an apprentice
  6. Hello to everyone on the forum, this is my first post so please bear with me, I was hoping for a bit of advice from all you Forest and tree people. Basically i've been a carpenter/joiner all my life and really want to spend the rest of my working life outside doing Forest Work. How do i start? Do i go and do CS30/31 and ask somebody for a job or experience first, then CS30/31? I live in Cleobury Mortimer in South Shropshire if that helps. Does anyone know of a kindly Forester in that area that might give me a break? any advice would be much appreciated. Cheers Rob
