  1. Ford Ranger, Mazda B2500, L200, or a Hilux will do what you want mate! I was in the same position, went for an L200 as there is 4 seats (use the rears for my saws etc), optional 4WD, space in the pick up bed for crap, tows well and is nice to drive! I will add a Loadhandler at some point so unloading the butt will be easier and it only costs about £200! Add to that a small towed chipper at some point and you have a wicked set up for small/one man jobs!

  5. Hi, I have an MS200T, I started it today after storing it in the shed for a month or two. On tickover the revs are a little erattic, if I move the saw the revs pick up. When I squeeze the throttle it will stall unless I squeeze it slowly and then it will rev out fine........Im assuming its a fuel problem, any ideas????? Regards, Anthony.
  6. Thanks for the replies guys! The jobs will be hopefully coming up pretty soon, I will pass on your details to my boss for you. P.S, We work out of Helston, SW cornwall.

  17. I sometimes get paid £70 a day, im self employed, supply all of my own PPE, saws, fuel etc. By the time I have taken out travelling costs, TAX, fuel for saws etc etc im lucky if I have £45 in my pocket but for a good 8 hours work but I`m happy to do it as its better than nothing. We would all like to earn more but thats life!
  18. Down here in cornwall I have been earning between £50 - £70 a day.
  19. Cheers spud, your a star!

  21. Cheers for the replies! Thanks doobin, I will take you up on your offer if I decide to go ahead with it but to be honest it looks like I dont have the necessary equipment at the mo:(
  22. Treegeek, if you contact a local vinyl signmaker im sure they can sort you out with some decals alot cheaper then vermeer, think they scan the image of the internet then cut them out of the right colour vinyl. Hope this helps!
  23. Cheers for the advice! Alot of the areas that need cutting are only accessable by foot so it will be mostly manual labour, this will obviously make the job more expensive as it will take me much longer as theres no way I could do it for £30 a kilometer!
  24. Hi, I have been invited to submit a tender to maintain our local parish council footpaths and bridleways. I have to give them a price per KM to carry out maintenance work, mostly hedge cutting and brushcutting. I know that everyone has differant circumstances that will dictate a price and people work for differant rates, speed etc,etc but as I have not done this kind of work before I need an idea of how much to charge, even a ballpark figure! Obviously once I have done this kind of work then I will have a better idea but as im new to it then I really have no idea at all what to charge, I dont want to overcharge but on the other hand I dont want to sell myself short! I understand how to work it out by using my day rate, overheads ete,etc but as I dont know how long it will take to do the jobs then I will have difficulty working out a price based on this. So if anyone could give me an idea of how much to charge mer KM I would be very greatfull!
