  1. Hello, I know a lot of you do some milling with Alaskans etc and I was wondering if anyone could make me a mantle for my fireplace. I've just removed my old fire surround and I've opened the fireplace up ready for the new stove. We live in a little cottage and it has oak floors etc so a nice chunky bit of oak would be great. I don't want some perfectly straight new looking thing. I really like the stuff you guys make out of old stumps and normally useless but of timber. I'd rather pay someone here than get it from a stove shop. Here's a pic of the fireplace opened up. Sorry it's the wrong way up! No idea how to rotate it on this phone. Thanks. Callum.
  2. Yeah that seems a little odd to me too. I always thought it was the sarkin that gave the roof its strength. Looks like your about to use tiles, I've only ever dealt with slate.
  3. I eat nothing in the morning apart for occasionally a bacon roll for the burger van round the corner from me. I really should start eating a proper breakfast but I'd rather sleep a little longer.
  4. Does this happen to anyone else? Whenever I read stories like these or people talk of ghosts my eyes water like I'm crying.
  5. I'm Scottish and I think all of that looks brilliant. It makes my newly done bathroom look pretty dull now actually.
  6. Shouldn't this thread be shut down or locked by now? It's getting a little out of hand and doing nobody any good. Lets all stop bickering and concentrate on what brought us all here in the first place. Threads like this would be the reason I'd stop posting. Not that I post all that much...
  7. I'm not in arb so I don't have many reasons to post but I like reading and learning from other people's posts. I normally check the forums using tapatalk on the way home from work.
  8. To finally feel happy and content.

    Red wine

All wine tastes like vinegar to me. My girlfriend keeps making me try new ones claiming "this one is different! " but nope, vinegar again. I'll stick to beer.
  10. I got loads of them too. It took us a while to figure out where they all came from. I used to leave them alone but one of them declared war on me last year.
  11. I'm ashamed to admit that I don't know. I got all of my latest wood from a cleared building site, they dragged all the trees down with a digger! All I know is that it splits very easily and is really white wood. Can anyone recommend a book or some other way to learn about trees?
  12. Windy in perthshire, if my newly fixed fence blows down again I'm going go be upset. 95mph winds!
  13. I have T11YRE as I own a tyre garage. It's on a yamaha R1 at the moment but ill stick it on a van or something at some point. Personalised plates do nothing for me but that one was too cheap to pass up.
  14. That hatchet is lethal, I cut a finger with it last week and I only just touched it. Great bit of kit though and looks cool too.
  15. Here's some info on VOIP and the way I have it setup. You could do it different ways though. First off you need a VOIP provider and a number, you can get both for free from sipgate.co.uk - free phone service over your broadband link - voice over ip provider. They can normally give you a local number with your area code. To get VOIP calls on your landline you can either have it set up through your router and have your phone connected to it or have a dedicated phone just for voip. You can see some examples here sipgate.co.uk - free phone service over your broadband link - voice over ip provider Most modern routers can handle this but if yours is old or you don't have a router this part would cost a little. To get VOIP to your Android phone you could use something like sipdroip https://market.android.com/details?id=org.sipdroid.sipua&hl=en Some versions of Android even have it built in as stock. Iphone will have similar apps but as I don't own an Iphone I can't confirm this. If you have both your landline/router and your mobile both connected with your sipgate account they will both ring at once and you can answer either one. To make outgoing calls you could still use your old mobile/landline numbers but you could also dial out using your sipgate number but you would need call credit for that. One issue you might have though is with the mobile side of it. If your in areas with bad data coverage it wont work so well and the calls may be choppy but that can be a problem with a regular mobile call anyway. Sorry if I've went on a little and the links I've provided are just examples of what I've used myself, there are other ways to do it and other services that provide numbers.
  16. If you have a modern mobile phone you can do this using voip. I have a local number that rings both my landline and mobile at the same time. Free too. Android and iphone should both manage this.
  17. Do you tell them you have wood for them?
  18. You must have gotten the unisex model. Mine is brilliant but I doubt my girlfriend will ever use it.

    Amazing

I was out walking my sister's new puppy and came across this tree. You might not see it in the picture but half of the top part is missing and the top of the tree seems to defy gravity.
  20. I'm trying this tomorrow, maybe. I'm not in arb but my work involves loads of heavy lifting.
  21. It feels perfect to me, I've used a few different mauls and this one makes them seem like toys. I'm so impressed I've even ordered a matching hatchet :-) another amazon.com buy, x7 14"
  22. 185/70 R13 GT Savero 106/104N (N = 87 Mph) 185/70 R13 Avon Trailer 950 106/104J (J = 62 Mph) That's 3800 Kg over four wheels or 3600 Kg over two pairs of dual wheels. I'm not sure that would solve your problem but it might be worth a shot next time your replacing them, probably cheaper too.
  23. I'm had that once, I pushed the priming bulb too many times and flooded it.
