  1. Great pictures, I love that table!
  2. I was cutting pretty squint but in my defense the branches were all laying mostly in a ditch, I got the hang of it nearer the end. It's been laying dead/broken for months I think because the wood all seems very light and seasoned.
  3. It'll burn just fine though, i'll work on cutting straight!
  4. I found the perfect storm damaged tree by the roadside tonight to break in the new 346xp I'll chop the all up a little better tomorrow night.
  5. Thanks, I get tyres from all over the world here and I wondered if something might have been brought inside one. It's quite weird looking and that tail looks a little bit dangerous but nice to know its just a beetle larvae It got flushed down the toilet btw
  6. Came into work one morning to find this weird looking this crawling along the floor in our waiting room. Does anyone know what it is?
  7. I'll price those for you tomorrow guys.
  8. Does it have commercial tyres on it now? I'm a tyre dealer.
  9. Thanks for the replies, I've just ordered some stihl chain and two stroke oils from mister solutions. All I need is for all the stuff I've ordered to arrive now
  10. Tapatalk for me too on Android, I don't think it can be done from the browser unless they have some sort of mobile portal installed here.
  11. I've just received my first chainsaw (346XP), and I'm wondering which chain oil and two stroke oils to use and where to buy them. I work long hours so getting to places during the day to buy things is a hassle for me, would homebase, B&Q or Halfords have anything I can use? I'll probably buy online in the future but I wanted to use the saw this weekend. Thanks. Ps. How in the hell does that husqvarna grease gun work???!
  12. Thanks guys, it'll be all ground work and i'll check out all of your suggestions. I thought chaps would be good because I can get them off and on quickly but I'e always thought people look a little strange wearing them I hadn't even thought about Strauss, thanks for reminding me about them, I buy a lot of my work gear from them anyway.
  13. Hello, Can anyone recommend a decent pair of chainsaw trousers? I'm not a pro so these wouldn't be used very often but I want to be just as safe. I've seen chainsaw chaps too but I don't know if those are any use. My budget would be around £100. I've already bought a helmet with the visor etc. A pair of boots is probably a good idea too but I have rigger boots with steel toe/heel/midsole. Thanks
  14. Don't you mean "as well"? *runs away*
  15. Thanks, I'll do that. Funny you should mention idiots on youtube. I was just watching "the strongest redneck" cutting his hedge with a chainsaw on a rope. I suspect he doesn't actually have the chain on it though.
  16. Hello, I've just bought my first chainsaw and although I've used chainsaws in the past I'd like some basic training. I don't intend on becoming a tree surgeon or anything like that it's just for my own home use. Is there someone local to me (Tayside Scotland) that could give me a few pointers? Thanks.
  17. I'd say burn it too, this is all getting a little complicated!
  18. Thanks for that, I'm making one of those soon
  19. Your quite right checking and thats exactly why I signed up here before I bought anything, thanks for all the advice.
  20. The trees are under no tension and are sitting flat on the ground, the roots are there on the trees but not attached to the ground any longer. I have no felling experience but my dad worked for the forestry for years and he'll keep me right. I can understand cutting these up can be really dangerous but I don't plan on cutting anything up thats sitting at a funny angle or under tension. All I want is firewood, I wont take any big risks just for that.
  21. I just burned our old kitchen too, it was great! No need to cut that stuff up though, it was so flimsy i just broke it all up with my foot. The worktops weren't so easy but I ended up just cutting ridges in them with my dads mcculloch and them jumping on them. I've taken this a little off topic now.... 346 with a 15" bar it is. Cheers for everyones input.
  22. Thats quite a good idea, could you post a picture of your setup? I'm a tyre dealer so getting hold of an old tyre the right size wouldn't be a problem.
  23. I got hold of loads of MDF sheets when a local door manufacturer went bust and the liquidator gutted it out. It's just for firewood so it doesn't need to be cut up neatly, just small enough to fit in the fire. Seems a shame to cut it all up and burn it as this stuff must have cost a fortune. I also got a hold of loads of door moldings which I'm using for kindling, my joiner friend was nearly crying seeing me burn mahogany, teak and oak etc.
  24. I just thought bigger is better I plan on cutting up some trees that fell during the bad winds up here a few weeks back, some of them are huge and I figured the longer bar would make it easier to get through them. Your right though, the majority of the stuff I'll be cutting up with be smaller and mostly pallets to begin with so I'll take your advice and go for the slightly smaller one(15") I'll probably get told off for asking this but would a chainsaw be suitable for cutting through 25mm mdf sheets? I'm thinking that stuff would wreck the chain pretty quick.
  25. Thanks! I'm about to order that saw with an 18" bar but I'm unsure which chain goes with it.
