  1. Just reading over this old thread and seems I didn't reply The one at work has a large bar on it and doesn't seem to preform. Top end seems pants regardless of bar siZe. Might just be a naff individual saw, has just put me off the model Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  2. Never thought of that hopefully that will open a few people eyes ( including mine) Arran
  3. Also how would a cutaway work on an art positioner/ where would it go? Arran
  4. I thought it worked like that and was just going to answer that question. cheers dude.
  5. just wondering what you folks use for a flipline adjuster e.g. prussik , art positioner etc. Want to move on from a prussik loop too speed up the time it takes me to chog down a stem. Be nice to see people opinions on what they use Thanks folks Arran
  6. gutted i missed this one, was working at the weekend and not even good work reducing height of a conifer hedge. the video rubbed more salt in the wound. Looking forward to the next one and looked like you guys had a wicked day. would of loved to hang out the top of the sitka spruce Arran
  7. iI dont think friction hitch's will become extinct. I used a prussik today to strip ivy off 4 sycamores. and will be on a prussik for the rest of the week. cheap as chips, solid as a rock and simple I call it caveman climbing ( I do still look at line around the tree and tihnk, if i was using my rw i could redirct here and do this...) A good portion of the best climbers ive heard of and or know use blakes or prussik which must mean something
  8. Ive got the ally ones with velco straps top and bottom and they are wicked next pair will be a carbon set. Recently sharpened the spikes with a flat file and they came up super super sharp. They are easy to get used to the surface area of the top velco strap is real large which helps distribute the pressure of your leg, well thats what it feels like for me anywho
  9. Good skills man, get some pictures up in the future
  10. I did my PTS as i was going to work on the lines and then got another offer for a job and took that instead but still have the ticket just never actually worked on the rail. It is super easy, you learn about distances from the tracks and overhead lines were to stand what the voltages are for different lines, train speeds etc. Its the sort of exam that you would proberly pass even if you didnt do the course and just sat the exam. Just pay attention and its easy Its not partially directed at tree work which is on the verges but work actually on the tracks but still relevant and key to safety. My overall favorite part was when i did my drugs and medical i had to wee in front of a small Chinese man
  11. Will do tomorrow dude. im sure he will have a suitable reply
  12. Nope i wish:001_smile: with Gary Dyer at mbs
  13. OCH LADDY, U JUST MIND THOSE SCOTSMEN
  14. To Big Al (felixthelogchopper) It is going to snow tomorrow and be icy, so be careful on the icy roads as there could be an angry wild Scotsman around the corner!!!
  15. Want to book my cs41 and cs32 for the first half of this year. anyone recommend training around the southeast. Anyone got reviews for kingswood, 95% pass first time across all nptc courses? Done my first tickets at writtle with steve woodley which were awesome but they dont do rigging or med fell Thanks 4 your time folks Arran
  16. I use the isc pulley I Prefer it to a hitch climber anyway. I run it on 13mm it's fine. All you need is ur friction cord pulley and two krabs. Great fun, loads of fiddling and using different knots and lengths of cord is key to find the right set up. I find the shorter the cord the better but each to there own. My favourite knots are the vt and Knut. I use marlow boa friction cord which is the cheapest you can buy I think but I love it.
  17. what can log burners heat, rads, water...? also what you folks roughly paying for installation for when your connecting up to rads etc. Just curious. Miles of getting a house and don't want one atm Arran
  18. Im using both, rope wrench with removable pin. hovering around 60% drt and 40% srwp. over time this figure is slowing changing in favor of srwp but i doubt for me it will ever be 100% srwp. Time will tell!! Arran
  19. Hardcore, Im completing one a night everynight and then 5 mins later doing another one and getting to about 2.30 18kg vest on thats hardcore. keep posting on how your getting on, I think im going to start variations of raised feet or press ups on handles, or/and just leave the song on repeat and see how i get on Glad you posted it good luck
  20. 2nd that for ISA, nice little book
  21. busy with family/ xmas stuff. gutted will wait for the 2nd climb in the new year.
  22. Not that i don't want it, that i dont have a use for it. It has a purpose in my life just not sure what that is yet!!
  23. Few bits that put me off and made me change back: my hitch would sometimes get caught under the top krab and this would make the hitch not grab. often happend when footlocking. would never fall far just slows progress. The top krab is right infront of the hitch and i use a short hitch. just getting in the way. When i ascend using drt and i have my groundy pull the slack out the line so im just climbing hand over hand it made it hard to get good arms length of rope as the top krab would get in my way as opposed to being clipped into my bridge and out the way. Good hitchclimber comments When i want to throw my climbing line through a Crotch instead of climbing through it i only have to unclip on krab which is attached to my bridge as opposed to using a fixed cheek pulley as i have to clip one krab to another then throw it over a crotch and clip them and clip back into myself. With just a fixed cheek you have to keep an eye on your krabs as they often end up in weird positions. each to there own i guess, hitch climber is just gavering dust at the moment in my kitbag. Im sure it will find a new purpose one day Arran
  24. boa is awesome. Cheap and easy to make hitches work. I find a knut works well for me and im on 13mm line. mine self tends and about 5m as long as you pull the rope directly towards the pulley. I bought a hitch climber didnt like it and went back to just a fixed pully and love it. Just keep an eye on the orientation of your krabs Arran
  25. started it last sunday doing 1 an evening and completed the song tonight good old feeling when the song finishes. loads of fun and addictive. Arran
