IME it always goes for more than the guide price. Trying to buy a 15 acre plot myself at the moment so know how you feel. Out of interest what is the guide price? Good luck with it and hope it works for you. Things I would check are as above , covenants. Also sporting rights, check your buying them, mineral rights too and fencing liabilities. Someone said to me once at an auction, if you want it, don't lose it over one bid, but don't get carried away. Small woodland plots are usually quite expensive compared to there bigger brothers.

I've had a scaffold for the last 15ish years. It's quite discreet. Healed up fine but I would recommend you get it done before your holiday to give it chance to heal. I have/had a fair few piercings and have never had problem with infection. But then again I am dead hard! LOL

Imported lots of tools from the USA when dollar was weak. Pros and cons to it. Bought a dewalt 18v 9 pack. Pros dirt cheap, got sent in the dewalt box so obvious, but no import tax charged, Cons, takes a while to get here, warranty is invalid, one of the tools needed new motor after 2 months. Cost of shipping back to states was too much and no warranty here. So bought new motor and fixed myself. Easy to get ripped off. Bought a paticular plastering trowel I wanted that wasn't available here. Got stung for tax, really expensive. Would I buy large tools like first example, yes if cheap enough. Would I buy low value. Probably not as worked out very expensive.

Cool, im busy today and tomorrow catering for an event were holding and I've a couple of markets on the weekend, but I believe next week is free except for a door I need to make and Thursday evening is busy. You at work all week next week?

There's so much of it in this tree, it would be hard to narrow it down. But cladding and outdoor furniture as a start.

Ok so, the reason I'm interested in which redwoods I have is that in a previous thread, someone stated that sequoia was a better, more durable, stronger timber and that a welly was brittle in comparison. What are others views experiences on this?

But how much of that ground work was part of the planing consent. You actually have to start what there allowing you or telling you to do. If its all work around building but not related to the planning then its not started. If this work is related to the planning then it is started. What's the problem with reapplying anyway. Should be quite cheap and an almost dead cert.

Ok thanks guys, that sort of helps? With the names at least! We got six quite large ? In our wood. I'm pretty sure there wellys, but when I check my id book the foliage on ours seems to be somewhere between the two in the book. One of them is quite poorly and I'm thinking it may have to come down at some point. I'm kinda hoping(on saw log terms) that its a sequoia but I'm not convinced. I'll get some pics of it tomorrow and post for an expert opinion. The bark is very thick though, never punched it though, maybe ill give that a go tomorrow too?

What's the best/easiest way to be sure if your looking at a sequoia or a welly? Also is there a way when looking at a saw log or plank? Many thanks in advance. James

This is an interesting thread, I'm thinking of buying a medium self powered towable processor in a few months when I find some woodland to buy. Wondering if anybody had any recommendations or advice to give. Thanks James

Problem with most teak oil is it doesent give uv protection. I would seriously consider some osmo uv protection oil. It really is the business. What sort of legs you fitting? Let me know when you got time to play and we can arrange something.

IME, a start is a start when it comes to planning. But unless you want exactly what they wanted I.e. same footprint, same materials to build with etc. Then you have to reapply anywaY. Beauty is if it was granted for them and your not unreasonable in your demands then it likely will for you too.
