  1. Because they are muppets. Yes a lot can be down to bad parenting but it's not 100% the case.
  2. And Andys kids obviously had the sense to see that. A lot of kids just simply don't care.
  3. This is true in many cases Stevie but I know many guys with decent parents that went bad, it's not always the case that the parents were bad but the choices the child makes that makes the difference. Being influenced by the bad that surrounds them has the biggest pull and it's not easy to say no when all your mates are egging you on.
  4. well said Andy. I myself grew up in a violent neighbourhood surrounded by neds or chavs as you call them. I made my own choices when I was young and changed my friends till I found ones that were not thugs (difficult in my neck of the woods). As it stands now a lot of the people I knew while in school and growing up there are either in jail, dead or slowly killing themselves with drugs and alcohol. But one thing remains that they are still the same idiots as when they were at school. It IS their choice to be who they want to be, I know I was there. Andy got it right when he said it is their fault, they are all individuals but just choose to be the wrong kind.
  5. Now all we need is to get the thieves (probably also benefit scroungers) put down! They will probably get a slap on the wrist and sent out (benefits intact) to steal from honest hard working tax payers once again. Annoys the hell out of me that these people are stealing from us in more than 1 way and we are powerless to do anything about it. Glad the owner got his saw back though.
  6. same for me. Shame that I don't know any female arbs. Would be a refreshing change.
  7. I like it as long as I dont have to cut and chip it, that sucks.
  8. Haha that's funny, no help at all sorry but I got a great comedy moment in my head just now
  9. Not having a workshop or yard at all I am pretty much limited to what I can do. The wife would kill me if I had a saw stripped down in the bath cleaning all the bits! Every now and then I give them a clean out on site and tighten/file any bits that need it as and when. I never have problems with my saws because I treat them with care and use them properly, being a bit dirty doesn't do them any harm at all.
  10. Bit far away for you but if you are struggling then give me a buzz. Will pm my number and rates.
  11. 1) insurance you don't need as the insurance of the company that hires you is what's needed. You can get other insurance for your body and equipment if you want. 2) be careful of bad groundies as you won't know what any of them are like till you start working with them so make your needs and orders clear. 3) always do a good job, they won't call you back otherwise. 4) keep receipts for everything and invoice all your work, 1 copy for you and 1 for your customer. 5)yes 6)yes I love being freelance because you are free, that's the point I suppose:001_rolleyes: If you are good you will be busy, you just need to show companies what you can do and that's the hard part. Getting your foot in the door is always difficult you just need to be persistent and push yourself. Good luck:thumbup1:
  12. That's what I thought, then the rest of the upside down bit would die off.
  13. I say shoot the H&S guy! This is typical of this country trying to wrap us all in cotton wool and therefor hindering our learning experience called "life" I would hate to be a kid these days, it must be so boring not being allowed to have fun cos it's dangerous! Anyway that's my short rant over, I hope you can find a solution to the problem and maybe give the world a bit of breathing space with 1 less H&S dictator.
  14. Some blokes? Is that normal where you are from?
  15. I think it's only supposed to go up to 11mm ropes but I have used it with 13mm xtc and apart from being a bit stiff at the top of the descent it works fine. I guess the rope size limit is to stop wear on the sides of the casing so if you do this a lot then you should inspect it often. I use mine only for ascent using the yoyo and that's with an 11.7 mm which works perfectly well. Also for my emergency descent while chogging down a pole so it basically never gets used and just sits on the rope waiting for that moment I hope will never come.
  16. Nice one Rob:thumbup1: Good easy read without giving away any trade secrets
  17. Good advice Rupe:thumbup: The lower you go on these trees the uglier the hedge will be and it becomes almost impossible to get a straight and flat top. 10 foot isn't really that tall so felling and replanting with smaller trees that can be maintained into a tight slim and dare I say it, a good looking hedge if maintained properly would be the best option. Plus the owners would gain a fair chunk of their garden back in the process.
  18. never had a grigri creep ever! However a stopper knot is always a good idea in any situation as you just never know.
  19. I have night sky which does the same:thumbup1:
  20. I downloaded a farting app yesterday that goes off when the phone is in your pocket and you lift your leg in a farting pose. Lots of hilarity so far but will probably get bored with it soon. Glad it was free
  21. I have only once had a problem and it was just to make sure the can had a kite mark on it. And yes this country is completely anal and I think we need a revolution! Joking about the revolution, or am I? Hmm there is probably some legislation about being indecisive. I should go check...
