  1. Looks good:thumbup: You could also have turned it into a parang or similar but that looks the business anyway:001_smile:
  2. Maybe you just had a defective one or something? I have used the parot head types and to me the fiskars have almost if not the same pulling power, plus with the option to cut from pretty much any angle saves so much messing around trying to get into the right position. If I am doing a small pruning job I can usually just sit in the middle of the tree and do the whole job without having to move. They do feel a bit plasticky (if that's a word) but they are tougher than they feel and make life that bit easier. Each to their own I suppose but that's the one for me.
  3. Only time I ever have any problem is trying to cut something like beech that's at the max cutting size because it's as tough as hell but that's all. I love the way the head pivots so you can get real good cuts on any awkwardly positioned branches. I have never broken one because I take good care of my stuff and the only time I have seen one broken was because it was dropped onto a hard surface. As for cutting close to yourself then I just pull the tape on the outside, you don't need to only pull the handle. Also at full reach there is the ball at the end for pulling. All in all it's the best pruner I have ever used if used properly.
  4. They probably get out of college and realise its not as easy as they thought and go back to the call centre where they came from originally. That's my guess anyway...
  5. I have another method for throwing my rope which works great and you don't need any throw bags or any knots that undo themselves when thrown etc... If you want to know my secret then you will just have to wait till I get a new pc so I can get photos up cos its not easy to explain. If you are good at throwing darts then this ones for you Either that or you can come see me and I can show you first hand, then I would have to kill you...
  6. Here you go too Universal Telescopic Garden Cutter / Cutting Tools / Products | Fiskars UK
  7. Wow really? That's kinda scary! Was it in bad condition? Maybe left wet and rotting a bit or something? I can't imagine something unused would fail so easily after just 1 year being clipped to a harness. Maybe the guy should get his harness checked out as well, he may be storing it in an acid bath or something!
  8. Wow that's a lot of impact block for dragging through the mud! Couldn't you buy something cheaper or are you just a shiny gear junkie?
  9. 5th swim this year? Your chookies must be up near your belly button by now! Not for me that I can't handle cold water. Nice pics though
  10. Got enough most expensive pulleys on the market? I am sure you could squeeze a few more in there Don't mind me I am just jealous
  11. I hear you there. I call the neds here posh neds haha the bad areas are not great but not a patch on a real bad estate. Now I really need to stop, my old eyes are giving up and I am getting cramp trying to type so much on this tiny screen. Laters
  12. Nice pruning jobs Not so sure about the weeping willow at the end there, looks a bit severe (just a bit) but what do I know about the story behind it? Welcome to arbtalk
  13. Aye it's the iPhone for sure I think, what were we talking about? For sure italy has other problems but at least the mafia wouldn't smash their bottle of buckfast over your head just for trying to get to the shop past the gang. The Camorra (in Napoli) on the other hand may just shoot you if you happened to cross into their territory on your scooter with a helmet on... They like to know who's coming you see:sneaky2: As long as you know their rules then your fine but our scumbags don't have rules and you can become a blood stain on the pavement for absolutely no reason at all except for just being there. I guess we will just have to live with it till the media comes up with some way to brainwash them into watching xfactor or big brother all day and night to keep them off the streets.....
  14. Very much agree that the system is broken. Our scumbags get payed to be layabouts therefor giving them all the time they want to go bully the smaller guy. I don't think you can compare it to Afghanistan kids in any way as theirs is a completely different culture and cultural differences matter a lot in how people behave. For example when I stayed in Rome I could walk around the bad areas without fear for my life because I knew there wasnt that group of of neds with the bottles of buckfast, pissed and waiting to jump on anyone that walked passed. Because in their culture drunk people are laughed at mostly and there is very few, whereas here there is the drinking culture where people lose their minds every weekend. My incentive to get out and try to be a decent person was just not wanting to be tarred with the scumbag brush, and that should be more than enough incentive for anyone with a shred of decency. I cant claim to havin been an angel either but i sure as hell wasnt going to be a ned. These bad ones want to be bad because it their culture and all they see around them and it is made so easy for them to do it too. We need to take all their luxuries away from them and make them work for a living instead of giving them all the benefits they need to keep their scumbag culture alive. Anyway I could go on for hours about this and that's not a good idea with the iPhone cos my eyes hurt now.
  15. Sorry that was a bad choice of words on my part. I understand what you are saying and I am in total agreement with you. I think the problem is statistics here. How many more people are there today than there was back in our youth? The more people there are the more bad people there are and also good people. Everything is going up in numbers and like you said its also how the media choose to show it. Everyone that's had any kind of sheltered upbringing won't have a clue what it's like to stay in a bad council estate or the hood or whatever you want to call it. These people know only what they read and hear from second hand gossip mongers. Matty your example I know happens and all too often the parents are also bad to the core. The thing is what to do about it? I know I have my ideas, extreme as they are I am sure it will never happen. There is good and bad people everywhere and there always will be, the problem is its getting easier for the bad ones to do what they want and we can't do anything because of their human rights even though most of them are barely human anyway.
  16. That's true about 2 sides to every story but its not really going with the thread. Dean is talking from personal experience an how you as an individual make your own destiny. These gang Kids choose to be thugs, they are (in most cases) not told by their parents to go beat up a granny or steal your chainsaw, it's their own personal decision to do these things. As it was my decision not to become like my childhood friends. I think this is the point that Dean was making.
  17. Good man I did a lot of palms while working in Rome and forgot to clean the saw once or twice till I noticed a hole starting to appear in the side casing. Turns out the palm juice or whatever you want to call it had been eating the saw from the inside out! Also found a few times the fibres seem to expand when cut so I was forever getting the saw jammed in the cut. On a bonus though the heart is real tasty and great for after your sandwiches.
  18. Make sure you clean your saw after cutting palm. That stuff eats chainsaws till there is nothing left. Good pics, I hope there is more to come
  19. another comment worthy of a clap. Tell you what dean I had it rough in my home town but you just took the biscuit! Hats off to you.
  20. My thoughts go out to his family and friends.
  21. Not having owned or used the 550 I can't comment on it. The 346xp however is a cracking saw and you don't need the girlie button at all unless your a girlie so it can break off whenever it likes. Never had a single problem with it either and I would buy another.
