  1. anyone got any ideas i have tried corks and bits of hose, don't really work, they just fall off and get lost, any one got any ingenious ideas, or should i just bye some, if so are they any good?
  2. i went for a tachyon in the end, i am very happy with it, just got to get the hight above it then your away, i used to use 13mm before, really wasn't as good as tachyon, but it was xtc
  3. i recon its the dad cutting it, the wife shouting and the son filming, if that was my dad i think i would find it funny too haha
  4. another two willows from a while back, i really should take before pics
  5. thanks tony and scotty, yea the tp is great chipper, i actually prefer the side entry, it was a good buy, by the boss, I'm gone be honest i was impressed with the other climber, even though his side took quite a bit longer, he is still at collage and this was his first biggish reduction.
  6. this is my first post of a reduction because you all so good! this was a nice oak we did today two climbers, took about 4 hours to complete was ok apart from no room the other side because of a car port and conservatory, but we had done it about 5 years ago so not a huge amount to come off, just 6 foot all around, good job i took this pic, i hadn't noticed that bit on the bottom left until i stud this far back haha
  7. it should hold all of that just, but I'm going to be honest with you, the bottom fell out of mine after about 6months, iv got a gelert expedition 90l now, seems bait tougher, but i might have just had a crap one lol
  8. i have a job every so often that requires me walking out about 30 mins from the truck to a site for large sycamore felling, i use a army berghaus cyclops bag, it just! fits in a stihl ms440 my lunch, water, flask, felling lever attached to the outside, hi lift wedge and normal wedge and sharpening kit, i put the ms440 in handle first then fit everything in around it, the blade sticking out the top makes a nice head rest lol, it is so much easier if you can carry your saw in a rucksack than carry it over your shoulder, i did that a few times then solved it in my rucksack, never looked back, just take your saw to a army surplus store or outdoor place and ask if you can try it before you buy
  9. who uses them for climbing and if so which ones?
  10. aaah i was just about to start a post asking what rope the tree motion bridge is, globe 3000 you say? to me it looks like it would make a nice lanyard too
  11. good point would just get the 16mm out but i had a polydyne 14mm and loved it until my ground cut it in half, nice knowing it was always strong enough, i dunno lol
  12. simple question I'm after a 14mm lowering rope and was just wondering what is the difference between the samson stable braid and nystron? is the nystron worth the extra money?
  13. i could live with that lol
  14. and when are u going to sell them in england?
  15. mine was well cheap to make, i already had the crabs and pulley but if i didn't it would all add up to around 60quid i think, much cheaper than the one in question, posted these pics before but this is how i have mine, added a small sling because i was too tight to buy a hitch climber or pinto haha,
  16. yea that would be nice MOG id love a GCRS, like i said mark it most likely was me and the grounds, but the grounds we uses all prefer a fixed bollard just seems smoother and easier for them
  17. you must be planning some big stuff adam!
  18. i always used dragonfly which wasn't that comfy really, it pinched my hips and just generally made me burn, never used a butterfly but unfortunately the reports are not great, i was scarred of switching to a harness without a seat incase i got ball crushed, but i went to tree motion and after about a month of adjustment (there is a lot) its the best most comfortable harness i have ever used, many people right it off because they don't give the time to adjust it, but once you have its perfect, i would sell your two harness's on ebay and put it towards a tree motion
  19. out of interest why did you switch mate?
  20. do you keep the crap on your rope all the time then scotty?
  21. like has been said heights isn't a problem its falling form them. I'm pretty lucky that when i was learning i was pretty much forced to do stuff, it didn't matter how long it took me as long as i did it attitude, the ones that get me are any kind of popular, had a row of previously topped out pops, that had rot in the old cuts with about 70 foot above them, ropeing is never fun when u can pull the top which is a couple of metres away to your face to tie on haha
  22. my biner never comes off the sling so its not a problem, just leave it on and its great, and i find the biner sitting the way it does now a lot better, just seems more streamline and no twisting of sling like when we all used to make out own set up. you getting in practice for rope wrench atree?
  23. now this is the kinda thing i was looking for
  24. i had a loverly polydyne 14mm which got cut in half by the ground in about a week and i can't afford to replace it grrr whats the sirius 14mm bull rope like?
