  1. thanks for the replys, iv got alot of srt stuff already, i.e yale kern, foot ascender, hand ascender, getting a snake anchor, iv already spent alot so the extra wouldnt make much difference, iv used spiderjack forever now, but recently been looking at trees and thinking srt would make sense for my climbing style, everyone getting sick of me saying "this is a srt tree" one thing is im crap with a throw line haha
  2. right im going to make the move onto srt finally, as a beginner who has never used srt before would you recommend going straight into the HH or starting off on the RW?
  3. i see your point marc, i can hear people shouting on the ground, but your right not as clear as with muffs, i only use plugs for climbing, have helmet with muffs for the ground usually
  4. yea you got to pull the ears up, after practice you can do it with one hand
  5. How to Fit Howard Leight Multiple-Use Detectable Ear Plugs - YouTube
  6. hi, you really need to put them in properly, i found the same as you, ill put a link up to show how to put them in, thanks for the compliment, its actually a photo blown up massive!
  7. when i received them i thought the same as you, but they are really comfy and the way they are designed makes them a better fit, i tried foam plugs but didnt like them as much, but everyone is different, yea i have climbed with muffs since, really hate it, they have no noise protection and like you say just seem really annoying , used to sweat so bad around the ears, bit gross haha
  8. Shortly after getting a full stein helmet, ear muffs and visor combo, the clips snapped off on the muffs, iv always been abit too obsessed with climbing as lightweight as possible (im pretty heavy already ) so i wanted to try somthing out that i had been thinking about, so i bought myself some Howard Leight Fusion Reusable Ear Plugs off ebay, as pictured come complete with the string, which is a perfect lenth for the helmet. i simple thread the string through one hole and around the back of the inner helmet (pictured) and back out through the other hole, finally putting the earplugs on the string, with the kask helmet there are perfectly plaved clips ment for a head touch that the string can be clipped back onto when not in use. The pros:- Light weight, you really do notice the diffence dramatic increase in noise protection, this i love, going deaf in this job is too common. Dont notice they are even in, after getting used to earplugs you find that you just keep them in as you forget they are even in place The cons:- take a bit of getting used too, making sure you get them in properly when you first start can be annoying, but its just practice Keeping them clean, make sure i clean them before i climb, during breaks, and when i have finished with water. Need replacing, i replace mine mayby every month, prob should do more, but i keep them clean. I understand many will not like this idea, but i do and thought i would share
  9. that attach straight to the harness via the 2 dmm's? how to keep the croll up? sure im missing the obvious lol

  12. this is the bit im interested in, i know he has everything regards to public liability and employees liability, iv checked, the question is im not a employee, im a sub contractor( self employed) , so does this simply mean i need my own?
  13. thankyou for all your replys, i think a few have got carried away, we are all self employed, we all pay our taxes, i put my equipment through, we all pay the tax man as a self employed person, the main man has public liability and employment liability and we are all legit in that sense, just wanted to make sure i was covered under his public/employment liability if something happens too me.with regards payment, he is gong to pay me directly from now on, we just didnt know what the law was on that.
  14. that i understand, so if he was to pay me directly from now on would i then be covered under his insurance?
  15. so if he was too pay me direct from now on i would be covered? we want to do everything correctly so it is important for us too get it cleared
  16. no its so it keeps his income down so he can pay less tax, which makes sense, if we were to all be employed by him we would have to be VAT registered, not what we want really
  17. i just have the feeling that if the clients are paying me that becomes my job, hence i need the insurance?
  18. hi i work with the same guys all the time, we are all self employed and get the clients to pay us all directly, if that makes sense, the main guy has full insurance, and has us named down on it along with public liability, now the question is would i be covered if somthing happened, or would his insurance company simply say i should have my own insurance as i am self employed? im guessing this has been discussed before, they are his jobs and he gets all the work, but if the client pays me, does that legally become mine? hope this all makes sense
