  1. cool pics, what rope are you using there?
  2. i seem to remember a series a couple of years ago about the kew gardens tree surgeons going around britain looking at trees and climbing them, what was it? anyone who what it was called? want to try and find it on the internet on this wet day
  3. is that sarcasm i hear or for real? u recon i could fit this to my old ART rope guide instead of the standard pulley?lol you got anymore videos coming drew i love watching your other ones,
  4. does look pretty nice, but i bet the price will be mega
  5. i have only used a lj once and found it abit all or nothing and not quite as smooth, but i have been on spiderjack since it first came out almost, so am very accustomed to it now, what i like is that fine control that has been said and in my opinion maybe a little easier to use hand over hand on ascent, BUT been able to pull out the rope from the top of a jl is a plus and WR compatible, but having said that it is possible with the sj too, tbh i havnt answered your question just made it more confusing
  6. the cheapest place online is forestandarb.com and if you ring them up they knocked more off for me if that helps
  7. also the ratchet straps that come with it are huge, which is a good thing because you can really secure it hard against the tree
  8. i got a stein single bollard about 5 months ago,and we love it, its looks good for its age too, but we prob only use it around once or twice a week and its packed in a old suitcase which its fits into so its not thrown around as such (like you could it weighs a ton), what we like is the predictability of it, the ease of use once it is set up, the only draw back is the weight you really need two men to set it up, i have dropped a few logs on it, but it didn't even really scratch it, i bought it because i hated the portarap we used to use, when your in the tree it would sometimes twist or something and be a pain, and when your on the ground it just seemed a pain, and unstable, but that is just me i think, because everyone else uses them fine, hope this helps too regarding the stein
  9. great to see you enjoying it, how are you finding those gloves to climb in>
  10. i personally think that was a good job, but iv never worked on a red oak, not many n lincolnshire haha, what i love the best is that bucket truck! you americans have it good, i know over there you don't need to wear chainsaw protection on your legs when climbing, but don't it hurt! i hate climbing without the paddings haha
  11. yea poison ivy is real good with spiderjack, i use tachyon personally, but it is harder to grip, kinda wish i had bought poison ivy haha, but there all kinda the same with there own benefits and drawbacks
  12. im not a wrench user, but iv noticed a few people mention they would like a stiff tether so it keeps the wretch in place, just a suggestion, would a rope bridge from a dragonfly/butterfly harness do the job, it looks the right kinda length, all it is, is a dynamo sling with a stiff outer case, just a suggestion
  13. i have old bridge from a dragonfly harness its looks the right kinda length and is stiff would this work as a tether?
  14. no wait 6 pages!
  15. haha thats all i wanted to know, but no, 3 pages later with full info of the law of LOLAR is obviously what i needed:thumbdown:
  16. i think people are getting the wrong end of the stick with all of this, i have no problem with splicers putting these sheaths and information on the rope, as its the law, kinda simple, and i don't want them to produce them without them, i just wanted to know if i could cut it off, simple
  17. right, i with i had cut it off!!!!! somehow and don't ask me how, while i was lowering my ART pulleysaver out the tree the throw line got stuck on the plastic bit i was on about and like a cheese string, cut though under the plastic sheath and through the splice, now i understand this isn't a common thing, and prob was my folt for getting tanged, but it would not have happened if it wasn't there, now i have to have a week old tachyon re-spliced, not happy
  18. elderid roller C/saver isn't sweet, its too long and really not much better than a standard one, one of our climbers had one, traded it in for a pulleysaver after about a month, he doest look back, and i run a ART pulley saver, again so much better
  19. not got one myself, I'm a hardcore spiderjack man, but I'm very interested in the wrench, when you get it you will have to get that head cam out
  20. looks pretty nice to me, how you finding the wrench adam?
  21. iv never even seen or used 3 strand haha
  22. ill just cut it off, its cos of the ART friction saver thing, like has been said it just mashes it up and gets in the way, and i get time because i make time, when you bye the best you have to look after it
  23. so ita not part of the splicing or anything important?
  24. simple questions can i cut this plastic bit off my rope? its annoying
  25. no its petzl, no room for anything to clip in unfortunately
