    I think it's the 528 that I've rented several times. To give you an idea, I once estimated a job would take 3 men 4days to shift the log wood out. I got in the Avant and we did it in 4 hours!

    I don't know where you are but Coppard Hire have Dymax tree shears for a 20t excavator. Just don't try to get them next week cos I've got them out. Haha!

    Looking at those specs, the Echo simply is not the equivalent to the Stihl or Husky. It will be better because it has a proper mans carburettor. Lol!

    You get a certificate of completion, not a certificate of attendance as you do on any other first Aid course, meaning that you must complete the course in its entirety in a competent manner. Just being there cos the boss says so isn't good enough. Greig specifies that candidates must have prior experience and be competent arborists or groundies. The reason for this becomes more obvious when you're on the course.

    Good build quality. Lighter than the Stihl and Husky. Cuts much better and always will. The annoying handle comes off with two bolts. Proper grease nipples so easy to grease. The angle adjustment on the head is now much improved. Better than the Stihl. Lighter and as good as the Husky. I've got all three brands and had all three before these three. The next one will be an Echo.

    So we did the Arbaid course today and my opinion of the course is that it was excellent. Greig (Mr Arbaid) runs a course that is aimed specifically at the types of injuries that occur in this industry. The morning was indoors but was not at all boring. Being geared towards us simple Arb types, it held our interest easily! Sadly there was the slide show of gore that had me turning white and heading for the floor, as usual! Lol! Anyway, i think that all participants today would agree that the course represents extremely good value for money, especially when you compare it to the other courses: St Johns etc. They just are not relevant to what may happen to us. A big thank you to Greig for presenting such a good and professional course. This should now be the standard, as a minimum, for our industry.

    Sprocket is ok, I think but I will check. Chain was a bit tight during the last tree. Lub was good. Correct oil and oiler turned right up and not blocked.

    It is the correct bar for the chain. What the hell is a powermate? A big bloke drinking in the pub? Yes the burrs are on both sides.

    My 395xp started cutting curves and despite some really good filing, it still cut a curve. 36" bar. Then Dave (top cutting chap), noticed that there were 'burrs' on the bottom of every tie-strap/link. What would cause this? Was the chain too tight? Are the insides of the rails worn? Neither of us have seen this before. I forgot to take a photo but can get one tomorrow, although I'll forget. Thanks for reading.

    The throttle and choke cables seized and had to be replaced. I should have lubed them! 😳

    I took the simple solution of putting my children in Private School therefore not under the same scrutiny and rule enforcement system. I'm sure that doesn't help you and I have not read this thread but good luck. :blushing:

    I'd choose the Predator because it is more stable with only singe wheels and much cheaper. Backup is excellent IME from Arbrep Services and Predator UK. In fact, I bought mine from Arbrep because they did me a better deal than Predator!!
