1. My advice is to work in the industry for 8yrs then you won't need to ask these questions because you'll know it yourself. I don't mean to sound facetious so I'm apologise that it sounds that way.
 2. Cos they give students accurate expectations of what to expect if the industry!
 3. That's a good question and I knew that someone would eventually ask. IMHO you can't compare the two because they are designed very differently at a different price point. The C&C jacket is a great jacket. Lightweight, very comfy and simple in design. My experience is that it does not stay waterproof for long enough given the price so i feel it is a touch overpriced. The Ventura is a premium focused Arborist's jacket and the attention to detail is relentless. Every seam is exactly right to ensure a snug fit even when stretching and twisting. Looking inside, there is plenty of seam reinforcement just where it should be. All the zips are the right length and at correct angles so that they are easy to use one handed. Elastic adjusters can be operated with one hand but are hidden so that they don't get snagged. The Sympatex fabric has been in use for many years and has a proven track record therefore it will outlast the other jackets in the Arb market. This level of detailing has created a garment that I can't find fault with so I feel the price is correct. If I lost this one, what would I replace it with? Another Ventura definitely. I think if you look at the Ventura, you wouldn't be able to buy anything else.
 4. I will have two loads of clean Oak chips on Wednesday 11th so wondered if anyone knows a tip site close by. Thanks Al 07834 414271
 5. No it's all good. Someone has been in touch and he's going to come in for some dates but he's also committed elsewhere so I'm still on the look out.
 6.

You may laugh Sarron but you conveniently forget that it was me who punted you many times on Arbtalk and recommended you to others. I posted videos, photos and good posts.

You then failed to turn up one day and didn't return any of my calls, voicemails or texts to find out what happened.

I called everyone that you had been freelancing for because I was initially worried that something bad may have happened to you (You'd be surprised if you knew how well connected business owners are). Anyway, they had all formed negative opinions of you by this point.

Simply, you let me down after I had supported you.

In the end, you shamed yourself.

 7. I forgot to mention that January would suit me best but I can be flexible.
 8. I'm trying to organise a course by this company. However, I need four more people as the course only runs with six. The cost is £150 each and is one day. I'm in Horley, Surrey but happy to travel to someone else's site if that suits. If you're interested I'll email all the info that I got from Arbaid. It seems like an excellent course as its aimed specifically at what we do and I know is endorsed by other Arbtalkers. Please PM me or email or call 07834 414271. Thanks Al.
 9. Fair enough. Anyway, is anyone looking for some work??
 10. Shame but I'm still looking for someone, whilst this lot keep bickering!
 11. Did you get my PM?
 12. Fair point however, back on track, I need someone to work on the ground feeding the chipper, rigging trees when it's needed, being a safe part of a team. Anyone interested? Thanks.
 13. I agree about the pay differential. I don't understand why a mediocre climber is paid more than an excellent groundie but it happens in most cases.
 14. Nothing, she's brilliant, I just need another.
 15. I am still urgently looking for a groundie who'd like to work in the Reigate area asap. PM me or call Al on 07834 414271 Thank you.
 16. At least they were already in the vehicle to make a sharp exit!
 17. So I've used the Ventura jacket on four days with a lot of rain on one of the days. There is no water ingress at all (except for up the sleeves of course) and the jacket as a whole is supremely comfortable for climbing in. What sets it apart from every other jacket on the market is that it is designed specifically for tree climbing and has some really good design features: Pockets that double as hand warmers even when wearing a harness. An elastic that runs through the collar so that the collar can be snugged up or loosened with one hand. Long sleeves that are still long enough, no matter how much you stretch. A hood that fits over a helmet and is adjustable over the top and round the sides as well is being a zip off/on. Pocket on the upper sleeve for, erm, 2 Tunnocks caramel biscuits. Underarm vents to open when it stops raining and you don't want to over heat. Maybe more but I can't remember right now. Thanks again to Treekit for sending it so promptly!
 18. I need a groundie of any description as soon as possible. Work is in the Reigate area. Please call Al on 07834 414271 Thanks.
 19. I need a competent or trainee groundsman in the Reigate, Surrey area. You need PPE and saws are provided. We primarily do residential work. If interested please call Al on 07834 414271 or 01293 782547 to discuss further details. Thank you.
 20. ?? Depends on the hours and condition surely? Or are you about to punt a Bandit grinder? Lol!
 21. Oh yes, I got the numbers mixed up. Sorry all, I was referring to the 4012. So I can't speak of the 5014 but still stand by the rest of my statement. Thanks for being smarter than me Jon. Haha!
 22. I didn't know they do it in a extra can thingy. I thought it was just a crew cab. Do they do a single cab?
 23. You're right Mark. I had a Unimog cos I thought I qualified but then realised I had no cash and a massive penis, so I sold the Mog. Part of that statement may not be true.
 24. I hired a 5014 once. Never again. I eventually gave up and used my Predator 450 pedestrian machine because it was faster. IMO the only two grinders to consider are a pedestrian and a Carlton 7015trx (or equivalent).
