  1. I would say so because the Ventura is very comfy to climb in. The Atlas wasn't being sold when I got my Ventura form Treekit last month so I didn't have the choice. I think that given the choice, I'd choose the Ventura because it's designed for tree climbers and I'm a tree climber. Also it's not black and grey which can't be seen easily.
  2. Just hope she doesn't catch it. If a woman was to ever catch real man flu, it's unlikely that she'd survive! 😷😷 😂😂 😳😳
  3. More involved? They were the first Euro country to step up with America and start shooting. It's my opinion that governments have tied their own hands by allowing ludicrous laws to be passed. What they need to do is crack on with protecting their nations by all necessary means. The media should be given no access to government sanctioned operations therefore the human rights mob wouldn't know what's happened and wouldn't start flapping their gums at events that have already occurred. Good examples: 1. Many years ago Paris started to throw a bureaucratic blanket over their Foreign Legion. The Legion had never been allowed to operate with impunity but since the politicians became too involved, the FFL has never been able to exercise it's considerable force as it was designed to do. 2. Whenever the SAS do what they were trained to do, our media try to hammer them. We need leaders with the sort of courage that Margaret Thatcher had. Politicians should not get the job because they did politics at Uni. They should be experienced business leaders and throw in a few with real military experience, a realistic government could be formed. Anyway, better get off my soap box now before I say something strong!
  4. I don't know about that either but 10 minutes further on is: Highams Farm Sheepbarn Lane CR69PQ £20-30 per load I think. Totally the wrong direction for the OP though.
  5. At about 4 minutes it looked as though you were topping trees. If so, what was the reason? Thanks Al
  6. Nice video but I bet you didn't like the near widow maker in the Scots Pine job! Small but still would have hurt.
  7. I thought those were tears of joy running down your cheeks last time! 😳😳
  8. So I am still looking for two people to fill a course on January the 18th. This course will be held in Horley, Surrey. If you are interested but have more than two people, that's not a problem. Another day can be booked with Arbaid because the more days that get booked the better it is for Arbaid to minimise his travelling. Please call me on 07834 414271 or email me [email protected]
  9. If you have an Echo dealer near you.........
  10. Yes I did it early this year. I used JB Weld to fix a Pantin onto the top of the shank. It works but is not what I hoped for. It's nice and stable but the rope hangs down alongside the spike which is a bit dodgy, to say the least. Last month the Pantin snapped off so I bought a Kiwi Klimber which is much better.
  11. But the Cut & Climb is a rain jacket, not a work smock and this thread is supposed to be about the Stein work smock! Jesus Christ!
  12. Hard to say. You should this entire thread to become enlightened.
  13. This has become a ridiculous thread. The Stein Work Smock was never designed to be waterproof in any way at all. Quite why some people are saying its crap value for money because they got wet in it beggars belief.
  14. Thanks Rich I'm not giving up on it or even meaning to imply any negativity about the BDB. I'm fully aware that it's my impatience that is my problem.
  15. I can't help with Rope Wrench technique but when branch walking on a stationary rope you need to adopt a different body position. I found that by keeping my body higher up and as much on top of the branch as possible, it's then easy to get back in. This is instead of the typical DdRT position of getting down low and close to the branch. The SRT requires you to refine your technique a bit more so that you can remain stable whilst up above. In my early days of SRWP I used a 10m lanyard but found I didn't need it after about 6 months and went back to my usual lanyard.
  16. Thanks. Yes I know but looking for somewhere closer to the job.
  17. Yes it's weird how Tachyon is regarded highly but is also stretchy. I haven't used it so can't comment. I love how the BDB tends when ascending and coming in from branch tips. I don't like the jerkiness when descending but I'm convinced that the problem lies with me and I need to concentrate more on technique. It may also be because I'm still using my HH on the short rope so my muscle memory (& fuddled brain) are trapped in Hitch Hiker mode!
  18. No but isn't Blue Tongue a bit bouncy/stretchy? I might be wrong. I do know that mechanical hitches are jerky on a stretchy rope because of the 'stored up energy' that is released when you start descending again.
  19. Definitely worth it. Every time i read of someone shovelling chip out their truck I point out the dangers. I've even had a few stroppy messages telling me to butt out! Theres even a thread running right now about home made chip boxes for pickups so that the chips must be shovelled out whilst stooped under the roof! Madness!
  20. Hi Mark I had an echo saw and it was great, the new one is better. I have an echo hedge cutter and it's excellent, better than the others. I'll be buying more echo tools in future, instead of the others.
  21. My advice is to work in the industry for 8yrs then you won't need to ask these questions because you'll know it yourself. I don't mean to sound facetious so I'm apologise that it sounds that way.
  22. Cos they give students accurate expectations of what to expect if the industry!
  23. That's a good question and I knew that someone would eventually ask. IMHO you can't compare the two because they are designed very differently at a different price point. The C&C jacket is a great jacket. Lightweight, very comfy and simple in design. My experience is that it does not stay waterproof for long enough given the price so i feel it is a touch overpriced. The Ventura is a premium focused Arborist's jacket and the attention to detail is relentless. Every seam is exactly right to ensure a snug fit even when stretching and twisting. Looking inside, there is plenty of seam reinforcement just where it should be. All the zips are the right length and at correct angles so that they are easy to use one handed. Elastic adjusters can be operated with one hand but are hidden so that they don't get snagged. The Sympatex fabric has been in use for many years and has a proven track record therefore it will outlast the other jackets in the Arb market. This level of detailing has created a garment that I can't find fault with so I feel the price is correct. If I lost this one, what would I replace it with? Another Ventura definitely. I think if you look at the Ventura, you wouldn't be able to buy anything else.
  24. I will have two loads of clean Oak chips on Wednesday 11th so wondered if anyone knows a tip site close by. Thanks Al 07834 414271
