  1. I merely wish to state that I would refuse to purchase a stove, or owt else, from anyone who misuses the word "impact" in this manner, affect bes the correct word old boy. Or "Does the weather have an effect on stove buying decisions"
  2. So from my simplistic assessment earthmoving outfits/quarries must be less trustworthy, or a bigger identified source of fraud, than Agriculture, fishing and rail?
  3. WoW!
  4. Eggs, Tis the lazy gobshites in Government jobs, that will be rubbing their hands in glee, at the thought of at least 2 weeks more paid leave, because, gosh, they would not wish to act irresponsibly by going to their work. I, from 32 years experience, know the type all too well.
  5. Despite being somewhat conservative in my political views, I imagine TR to be nowt but a chancer, riding the best high profile wave, for his own selfish pecuniary benefit, and I also imagine, given the opportunity, TR would turn out to be a Dictator. There are however, many more on the left that are much much worse in both these respects. That is not to say what he says is untrue. And the Government cover-up/lockdown of the nature and ethnicity of these grooming gangs is truely shameful.
  6. Da undertakers and gravediggers will be rubbing their hands in glee! aka; Always look on the bright side of life!
  7. And nobody knew, despite all the HGV traffic over a period of years . . .
  8. Yup, and I kinda suspect the brown trout would hoover up the frogspawn or the tadpoles?
  9. Me wee pond only 25m away, and overgrown with rushs, is already "hooching" wi frogs and frogspawn, so I will allow nature to works things out on her own. Cheers mth

    plumbers?

I find it seriously weird that with the UK metric system here in NI, with 15/22/28mm pipe since whenever, and with Ireland always being more "European" than we are, what with your road distances and speed limits in Kilometers, that you still bloody use Imperial plumbing sizes?
  11. I really like the North Korean approach to selfish twats like that. At least per some reports.
  12. You are obviously confusing "small pond syndrome" with big pond envy", a rookie mistake imho.
  13. Too fornicatingly long, the fornicated about wi a billdozer in the rain and only made a hash, then had to bring in a digger as well, it was so bad I cut my losses and reduced the size of the pond by 33%, it was meant to be 20m by 30m but is now 20m square(ish) And they were there a wheen o hours then went somewhere else, and came back days later, then a burst pipe, then more rain etc etc, etc etc. So I might now dig a 3rd pond in the gap between me other 2 ponds? P.S. The frogs were also fornicating today in the origonal small pond, which is nicely fringed with rushs for privacy.
  14. Sigh, I suffered from small pond syndrome last night up at the gun club. There was some chat about catching trout, so I quipped I got my own private trout fishery. Then the bloke sitting beside me showed me the 1.5 acre grant aided pond complete with island and rather nice bridge that his retired farmer father had constructed next to the rather attractive brand new fuck-off lovely big retirement dwelling. Sigh.
  15. About a foot to go, fingers crossed, and how far it will drop during a druth is hard to know. Still dithering re the outfall solution, I may simply strip the peat away, and use the underlying clay to construct a large/deep/wide channel over to the origonal pond(which then has its own outfall) this channel will in the worst case still be a "wetland" environment, even if the pond only overtops sporadically. I also started thinning out the naturally seeded woodland, to let a bit more light in, only got Birch and Rowan, and Sally bushs aka Goat Willow hybrids. A Log Cabin, where the blue chair is sitting, would be a long term goal, the 2nd image was taken from the chair, looking near-enough due North, but a lovely sheltery place to sit. P.S. I have just emerged from 3 months recuperation/winter hibernation, as of this last 3 days, I feel like a new man! But I definately feel like an old stiff man in the evenings! Anyway 40 brown trout put in on Tuesday, and a few images from this morning.
  16. Anyway, there will still be Kero to abuse, especially since, at least here in NI, it is so widely sold at the pumps at filling stations!
  17. Sigh, an there was honest me paying for clear for years, when ah cud ave bin, rather profitably, running on red! BUT Long overdue, a level playing field for all, and surely possible to offer a rebate for the clear diesel purchased and used by bona-fide commercial or industrial users, but now post purchase, or even link in such a way that only VAT registered firms can claim the rebate. Like it WILL hurt me, being used to using red to run my tractor(s) to cut sticks. Better stock up then!
  18. From the brother who farms; "heat's half meat", meaning anyone with live stock will have ruefully observed how much more their animals eat when it is cold.
  19. The Elephant in the room in the respect of district heating using biomass, is the incineration of household waste(plastic and paper only), a "free" high energy source, IF seperated at source. And any waste flue gas heat used to heat glass houses to grow exotic fruit and veg that are currently imported. Simples!
  20. Blanks, sigh! A wile pity it warny live ammo mind you!
  21. On a fixed amount of HP, for more flow, there must be lower pressure, or visa versa. No free lunches. Mr Bernoulli had it all sussed away back. cheers m
  22. Now for washing the yard down, this bes the biz! And I got a big fire hose reel stashed away this 20 years And a collection of(slightly rusty) 500gall steel tanks
  23. Not only is it not unusual, but kinda contrary tay the Laws o Physics per wor Engineer Scottie!
  24. As I mentioned earlier in my post, I knew that for cleaning concrete, flow is what is needed. I will prob buy a petrol engined washer, and was certainly not hung up on a gazallion psi. I am also toying with a tractor PTO pump, for better flow and pressure. cheers Marcus
  25. A good question? This an that, washing vehicles and a concrete yard mostly. My 20 year old Nilfisk Gerni only works intermittently, which I find odd, as when cold it works as it should(in so far as I can discern) for say 10 to 15 minutes but then, while it continues to run, does not put up the right pressure, but can sometimes be "tricked" into doing so by releasing the trigger and restarting, all most odd. And push come to shove, leave it to cool down, and away you go again, for a while. I.e. the motor works, and the pump works, sometimes, but not consistently But the last time the local Nilfisk agent fixed it, he basically said not to bring it back as parts were no longer available for the integeral motor-pump unit. Cheers mth
