I think? electric cookers came sans cable even 20 to 25 years ago, when I fitted ours. But due to my inveterate skip hoking and hoarding, I had enough cooker weight wire to do.

Well as long as you dinny grass me up tay Big J, Nominally 1.0m, simply for handy(bale spike) mechanical handling, ease of stacking and good exposure to drying winds. simply because thats how its done in Germany, an France, an Belgium, etc etc etc. An anyway the splitter only takes 1100mm max (But post Brexit, I shall, of course revert to fathoms, groats an yards etc etc) P.S. This time I started cutting out the worst(but the best of burning) knots, and tossing them straight into the big crate. As long as the outer ring of billets is full length(with perhaps a few in the middles as well) , most of the rest can be shorter straight lengths from between the knots, which knots are a big problem with my shitty misshapen Lodgepole Pine. Slightly more time consuming, but probably worthwhile.

See images, 2 unwanted(to be dumped) prestressed concrete slabs 5.5m by 750mm by 150mm(@1.5 tonne each) plus 2 old heavy section 2.5 m high gate posts(from Lord knows where or why or even when), All assembled by my I, me, mesel, with some help from the wee Kioti EX 50. 4 No 20mm dia holes bored through the 25mm thick baseplate on each post, secured by 4 No 16 mm throughbolts. Notion being to keep the bottom logs up out of the mud and grass and ensure the drying wind can whistle through under. I was quite pleased with my efforts.

Hmmmmm, No, since manufacturing is the entire process, between raw material and finished product. Machined, perhaps, then heat treated, as part of the manufacturing process.

I have never experienced this behavouir, I have however observed that Hawthorn is very deceiving re apparent dryness(& does its density help to fool me?) and on occassions observed moisture "fizzling" out of the cut ends, much more so than with other wood that I have burned.

I keep the lights relatively low, which makes it easier to spot the dull cherry-red glow of the flue pipe, does this count?

Hawthorn also, a bastard to process, but Lord the calorific value, never mind the way it burns, makes it worth it

Whilst I do not dislike soapstone, and indeed accepting it has a slower rate of heat release than cast iron has, surely the surrounding masonry walls will fufill the same heat-store/slow release function. Or such has been my lifetime experience. And our bare CI Morso takes hours and hours, and hours to fully cool down, sans soapstone. Btw, the 3 masonry walls backing our 2 story front porch, (vertical glass to the front with a flat roof over), store MASSIVE amounts of solar gained heat, which one easily feels of an evening well after the Sun has set, and the area is still remarkedly warm the following morning. So essentially soapstone is an expensive fashion statement. mth

In wor local parlance it ud be "Greeting Greta". Where greeting is the local colloquialism for crying. Oops! I did see somewhere the question asked; "Have the "we are doomed" anthropological climate change prophets taken the data from say the 1960's and used this data to run their climate prediction models, simply to check out what the results would be for say 2010 to 2015, to verify their accuracy, or not. Before using these models to predict future climate likelyhoods. Apparently the answer is no. Why not?

Matthew, that is staggeringly tidy, by any standards, let alone for a lone operator. P.S. All you need is a wee drone relaying back to a screen in the cab, to save you getting out to look-see.

My fathers brother had a black powder license to allow him to blast stumps, I would need to ask my brother the date of uncle Tony's licence, but presumably prior to the general explosives clamp-down when the troubles kicked off back in the 1960's.
