  1. We go through a 2000l fill of Kero each 12-month, mostly driving the downstairs underfloor for background heat, and it only runs for 1.5 to 2 hrs am each day during the winter months, then off until the next morning. The single 5kW wood burning Morso then effortlessly takes over the space heating demands being lit am each winter day**. With the addition of the garden room akinda now forming a triangle with the adjacent kitchen and living rooms, and the stove being located in the middle of the triangular space, it all works so serendipitously, but with definate planning aforethought. The garden room sits at about 25 deg C, with the living room and kitchen not noticably cooler, the three spaces being now effectively open plan. I have no idea how much timber we burn since it comes from a jumbled loose firewood pile. **N.B. On bright winter days the stove is not needed from mid morning to mid afternoon such is the solar gain from the glazing in the garden room. Hey, it all works as it should.
  2. This sticker was made and stuck-on in Germany. P.S. I did, a few years ago observe a large cardboard box in a skip, from a large screen TV set or somesuch, proudly stating "MADE IN THE UK", which puzzled me recognizing the product brandname. On closer inspection it actually said, in very small text "this carton was" before the "MADE IN THE UK" I shit you not.
  3. I believe Dwayne was the bloke who introduced me to my favourite statement, which merely crystalized a lifetime of rueful observations; "Ya caint fix stupid" RIP indeed.
  4. Ah! bin there, an got the tee shirt, the promo one that came with the new bumper!
  5. But dats only a wickle wee-small dog
  6. I will also be contacting Morso(e), though since we bought the stove "cash and carry" as part of a stock clearance deal BUT from a as far as we were aware an official local Morso dealer. I see no point in persuing this local well known/and reputable dealer(who in honesty would not give a fig anyway) cheers mth edit I emailed the Morso UK importers, in so far as I could establish. I should prob have phoned as well!
  7. Remember my conclusions above . . . The 3 year old Morso has already got a crack in the Cast Iron top plate, adjacent to the flue, noticed last night. Unlike the 1997 Panther it has never been overfired, nor has had the flue pipe glowing dull cherry red(and more than once two) like the 1997 model suffered at my hands. It has only been fed clean conifer, and indeed, due to the emissions air injection crap, the firebox is relatively restricted, compared to the 1997 model. The 1997 Panther did not crack despite my blatent overfiring. But the poxy 3 year old one has. CONCLUSION Modern Morso's are CRAP, compared to the stuff from 20+ years ago. Marcus
  8. Not just Labs, I had been bitching to the Mrs. about one of our very fit athletic Bulldogs near cleaving me (and repeatedly too) off my legs when walking up the Moss, by barreling up at full tilt from behind and not slacking when going past my legs on a narrow game trail type path. When she took me down, hard hard hard, on the concrete street, as the Mrs happened to be watching too, and NO, funny it was NOT.
  9. We see quite a lot of our daughter, and her boyfriend, because he can sit in our free toasty heated garden room, drinking the endless provided tea, while "casting" YouTube canoeing content to our wall mounted smart TV, for us ALL to enjoy! Senior Management also uses this facility to "cast" tapestry and needle point YouTube content to the larger, easier to see screen. Me, iffen ah were younger, I know what YouTube/internet I ud ave bin casting to the TV! That
  10. Well his imagination appears to be in fine fettle at least . . .
  11. 3 MONTHS for lidl then the warrenty is fobbed off to a third party, in Germany somewhere, which causes much angst, let me assure you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. In what respect Eggs? I am merely quoting from memory from what the farming brother told me, a wheen o year ago, and indeed NI may well be different to the rest of the UK in respect of farming regs. cheers mth
  13. And even treated sludge or blood can only be used on ground to grow crops to feed livestock, i.e. not lawful for crops intended for human consumption.
  14. I got our septic tank emptied by a local farmer "who does", he simply takes the contents and empties them into the proportionally vaster slurry tank beneath his slatted cattle house, then in due course spreads with the rest of his slurry.
  15. I will interject and again state that our great British tradition of NIMBY'ism, compounded by knowingly decietful and bare-faced lying about so-called "recycling" Councils and Council Officers is the problem. All waste, barring specialized industrial waste, MUST be dealt with within the community that produces it, and by more than our shameful current box-ticking so-called "recycling", then proper and preferably CHP incineration, then landfill. O.K. I would allow them to export their waste for landfill, because that will cost the true economic rate. Our current UK model is simply about exporting our prolifigate consumer produced pollution at the lowest cost to the household or consumer producer, with ZERO consideration of what happens at the other end. But how one can effect the needed changes within our democratic system is a conunderum indeed! RANT over. mth

  17. An come back fighting . . .
  18. And when exactly was the English occupation?, and just how many other counteries and states have been invaded and settled since the English WERE INVITED into Ireland, by a weak wanna be Irish King/ruler, to depose his stronger rival. Oops! As they say "its complicated" starting with the Vikings settling Dublin and turning it into the slave dealing capital of Europe. There was a staggeringly good, Irish made programme, on the BBC, about the rather convoluted history and peoples of Ireland. Which was searingly honest, and did not support the IRA's choosen narrative at all. I suggest you watch it, and when I remember or find it I will put up a link.
  19. I beg to differ . . . It was "our" country too . . . Mind you the ruthless IRA policy of ethnic cleansing , down round Armagh and Fermanagh in particular, was intended to "sort that out", and has been quietly ignored by the world's press and media. I could name innocent 17-18 year old heirs to historically owned Protestant farms, that had to flee to Canada, having been very fortunate to escape unscathed from a bullet riddled car. He only fled under extreme pressure from his father and mother btw. Oh, did I see some mention "extermination of a (Protestant) way of life", well ye ken, if the shoe fits . . .
  20. I cant help but imagine, iffen this had of been an IRA man, or woman, shot twice in the head , whilst making/planting/setting,or detonating a bomb, here in NI during the "troubles" there would have been a massive outcry, not least from the BBC and the Boston Irish, about RUC brutality and "shoot to kill". etc etc etc What has changed?
  21. Avant is hydrostatic = hydraulic, since ALL the Avant gadgets are hydraulic powered, ERGO a sodding large hydraulic winch, so the world is yer Oyster! Whadda ye know, see link; https://www.avanttecno.com/za/attachments/winch But tis only a wee 1000Kg toy? This site; Horsepower Calculator - Metaris Hydraulics WWW.METARIS.COM Calculate the Hydraulic (fluid power) horsepower. gives 35 HP, after converting the Avant oil flow and pressure to Freedom Units So even look at a standard 3 -5 tonne tractor linkage mounted forestry winch, but modified to mount to the rear of the Avant, with a suitable Hydraulic PTO, Ex Whitehouse Hydraulics or other similar supplier. Hydraulic Gear Pumps | White House Products | Hydraulic Pumps WWW.WHITEHOUSEPRODUCTSLTD.COM And at least with the hydrostatic drive Avant there is no need to worry about cooling the hard working hyd fluid.
  22. TVI, an outstanding thread, and (this coming from someone who only/mostly posts non-tree related shite) EXACTLY What any arb or tree related forum should contain. Kudos good Sir, Keep up the good work. marcus, the really quite envious.
  23. Meh, da petrol ones were, after all, designed with Iran as a major market, so fuel consumption was prob not high on the priority list. A 460, re-engined with an OM 605, is a corking unbreakable/unburstable beast, that will survive armageddon better than a lot of other vehicles. And the chassis simply DOES NOT RUST. The 461, being the successor to the 460 from 1990 onward, is even better, with the decent Sprinter turbo-diesel engines available from the factory. And there is simply nowt better off-road, in bog-standard factory trim. Anyway, horses for courses. I like them, even more important the wife likes them, and best of all wor Daughter LOVES them. Nuff said, Cheers, Marcus
