We have a Valtra tractor and a trailed forwarding trailer, which we need to use on site shortly. Our operator has done the FMOC base unit and Flail/Mulcher but we need the appropriate course to use the forwarding trailer. Can anyone advise: a) exactly which course is required and b) any recommendations for someone who can do the training in the very near future, ideally midlands, but can travel

I'm on the lookout for an online/app based software programme that can track our PUWER and LOLER inspections. I've had a look at MeritAGCheck which looks good and reasonably priced, but the equipment checklists are limited to what's in their programme and the customisation is limited. iAudit looks very customisable with access to lots of user created templates, but for all our staff to be using it would cost nearly £200 per month! Is anyone using a similar system? Basically I'd like the teams to be able to complete their weekly LOLER and PUWER checks on an App which stores the reports automatically, rather than filing and tracking loads of paper sheets. Would also be good to have a system that raises an alert for defects, similar to Merit Check. If it could manage staff timesheets too that would be an definite bonus!

Just listening to the budget and announced that in 2 years time the relief on duty for Red Diesel will be abolished except for agriculture, rail (maybe some other sectors). This could have a huge impact on our industry too.

With Nesting season virtually here we have a lot of call for Ecologists. A fair amount of our work at this time of year is on Construction sites and we often have to work under Ecologists supervision, or get bird inspections done prior to commencing work. This is a service I'd like to offer in house, but at the moment we're not in a position to employ an Ecologist directly, so I'd like to have a freelancer(s) on the books to call on when needed. Does anyone know of a forum/facebook group/website where I might be able to find Ecologists just hanging around online (a bit like Arbtalk…?)

The other issue I've seen with Council Tenders is that you often have TUPE staff transfers involved too. We generally just walk away from all of them now.

We were CHAS registered and have just had to go for Safecontractor for a client, I think it was 20% discounted as we were already a CHAS member.
