  1. I've had a try of a 560 and was very impressed but the guy who I work with most days has just brought a 555 and I'm equally impressed with that. We get a little obsessed with having a XP model as it's the done thing but don't overlook the 555.
  2. I didn't mean to come across as having a dig at you, if you have worked around the lines you will know the the score. I've noticed a few people on here asking about lv or hv and I wouldn't want them to think it was somehow ok to around lv power lines more than hv. People can easily be mistaken by what they read on the interweb ! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  3. I think you do need an o licence, I used to have an orange disc which was for a restricted licence which was for my own goods. The blue disc is a non restricted which is for haulage of other people's goods. As I understand it, if you are using a vehicle larger than 3500kg for business you need an operators licence. I don't know about Mogs though. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  4. This idea that LV is not as dangerous as HV has got to be forgotten. Both will burn and can kill, in a way LV is worse as if you come into contact with it there's a good chance it will hold you on but HV will throw you off. A few years back I reduced some poplars in a park beside the main London to Brighton line, no overhead power lines but we had to have rail track banksmen give us the ok on the track before we rigged anything on the track side of the trees. 5. It's funny, when I was 30 it didn't bother me 1 bit. Had a big fancy dress party and really enjoyed it. I've got no interest in doing the same for my 40th. Sorry everyone we seemed to have gone off topic slightly. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  6. I'm 40 at the end of the year, been climbing 20 years soon and I think I've slowed a little over the last 6 months. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  7. If that's the sort of size material that's going to be chipping all the time I don't think it will last that long ! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  8. I always thought it was good idea to never tow a trailer that weighed more than 75% of the weight of the towing vehicle regardless of licences/weight limits of vehicles etc etc.
  9. Sorry to hear about your gear going missing, it seems to be on a daily rate at the moment. That's one hell of a hit, probably the biggest I've heard about.
  10. 3m out of the top doesn't sound much like a BS3998 spec either ? I'd keep well away to be honest.
  11. I found this dead badger beside a local road, I've never seen a badger this colour before. Looked it up on interweb and apparently its not as rare as I first thought. 1st time at posting picture so I hope it comes out ok.
  12. Hi Nick, Nice unit mate, if I was closer to you I'd do a few trips for you. If your ever near Carmarthen and run out of hours or need a hand etc give me a shout. Rob
  13. Nice roe buck there Tom. What moderator is that on your sako ?
  14. Sako 75 .243 Ruger 10/22 .22 Beretta silver pigeon o/u Since moving to Wales the only thing I miss about south east England is the deer stalking. Any arbtalkers fancy an extra person on a evening stalk ? Thought I'd ask ..............
  15. I've worked up around Coventry a couple of times. I had plenty of notice of dates and booked a travel lodge for £23 a night.
  16. That is brilliant, would love a go on that
  17. Hi Jon, Snow in the Mendips on bbc news now
  18. Hi Mr. Magic fingers, It's very simple to put in an application for a felling licence, don't be put off. where in the country are you ?
  19. Crystal palace here
  20. The business
  21. Last year I on a FC site we cleared approx. 30 ton of wind blown hardwoods / hardwoods that were at risk of being blown. Cut all them into 2.4m length and stacked trackside to be removed by a haulier as and when. Spoke to the FC contact last week and over the Christmas period the lot disappeared plus a few on the remaining trees being felled as well ! Now that's not a few bits being put in a boot of a car ?
  22. Like its been mentioned above, most staff are willing to help employer out in tricky times but your always going to get a couple that kick up a bit of a stink. When i had lads working for me (PAYE), i used to swallow the odd day but if it went on for a few days i would pay them a full day but the lads would take half a days holiday out of their 20 days a used to give them. It wasn't my fault it snowed and it wasn't theirs.
  23. If they are topping it to make a spar tree that's going to be one hell of a high skyline !
  24. A few inches here, blowing hard as well.
  25. I was in the cafe at tescos today and the women asked if I wanted anything on my burger ? So I had a fiver each way !
