  1. Hi, Does anyone know of a operator in the South Wales area or who would be willing to travel that has a whole tree chipper/site clearance self loading type machine. Got a large scale felling job and need something a bit bigger than the mog and 10" chipper. Thanks in advance.

  3. Noticed alot more this year around here, got done thursday if the back of the neck. Most of our guys have been stung in the last week or 2.

  5. Had 2 climbing saw chains snap in 18 years climbing, both were a brand called 'sabre' i think. Heard of others snapping but it is normally where they have been pinched in a cut before and have been weakened.
  6. Hi, Been a stihl only man for 18 years, brought a 372xp (18" bar) at last years APF and i'd recommend it. I use it up in the tree section felling and on the ground, snedding and felling with no problems yet.
  7. Yes thanks mate, weather was bad on the M5 though. Believe it or not we nearly hit a fallen Ash about 10 miles from home, couldnt do anything about it as we didnt have any saws with us !

  10. Now thats real old skool Mark. When i first started with a council in London some years ago there were some wooden triple ladders laying in the corner of the shed that you extended with a rope that was strapped to the side of them. I could'nt even pick them up let alone lay them up against a tree and climb up them. Fully extended they must of been over 50' !

  12. Hi Dean, B&A everytime mate, I've done alot of jobs with them and they are 1st class. Bobs the boss but ask if you can have one of their drivers called Wyn, good to have a driver that has done a few tree jobs before. If you ever need a hand with such a job pm me.   13. I know of a farmer that empties septic tanks for cash on the side, once he was doing one and a neighbour come out filming him and saying he was going to report him to the authroities. The farmer had his 12 year old son with him and replied should he call the police as the neighbour had been taking pictures of a minor. Said neighbour soon went away!

  18. It seem here in West Wales every farmer type has used a tree at some point to nail a barbed wire fence to. I hit wire nearly every day ! ! ! !
  19. If the cranes got to be that far away, its going to be a big crane or it will only be good for small bits. Like someone said above, its going to have be 60ton plus.
  20. Hi, Have a look at Bat Conservation Trust. The AA course is more bat awarness than being able to survey them. Good course though, i done it a couple of years ago.
  21. Thats the way, it you have got 100% faith in your gear you will be quicker i reckon. Had a look on ebay and you can pick up a second hand set for a good price.

  23. I used to use the same when i lived down there, always used to get next day service, very good.
  24. Hi all, Had my first go at pole climbing today at the Pembrokeshire show, went up the 80 foot poles twice. Used my normal side spikes and then one of the guys let me have a go of his front spikes. The front spikes were alot easier and faster once i got the hang of them. Does anyone have any pictures of their front spikes that they have made, would like to have a go at making some and wanted to have a good look at some first, Thanks.
  25. I'm proud to say that i lit my new wood burner on Sunday that i had installed recently. Looking forward to hitting into the pile of Ash in my woodshed this winter.
