  1. Like your reasoning Mr idiot:thumbup:
  2. Odd you are having problems drying sweet chestnut, I coppice Dec through to March, process , split and net the chestnut March through to May left stacked where sun and wind can get at it, it will be lovely to burn by Oct, might spit a bit though. Have been doing it this way for over 25 years now and haven't had any complaints from customers to date regarding the logs being difficult to burn.
  3. Hi James, I still coppice, I use a tractor with angle iron bolted to front of tractor and pallet lifter with extra long tines to rear, this makes manouvering around stools a lot easier without a trailer
  4. I sort my cord into species, I have four price points and I sell my logs in nets. Oak £4.60 Mixed Hardwood ( Ash, beech, hornbeam, sycamore ) £4.00 Silver Birch £3.60 Sweet Chestnut £3.10 I have been doing it this way for the last 20 odd years and it works for me , not saying that i'm doing it right though.

  7. Tell me about it, i struggled for hours fitting a new one on my Hakki, eventually did it, then spoke to M Large and they said i should of sent it back to them and they would of done it for me.

  11. Their might be a lesson for us all here, don't tip a load unless the person who is paying for it is present and is happy with what they are getting.
