1. We are just going through accredition now.. 4 houses... One solid wood boiler. 6 grand year saving on oil plus at least that again on rhi.. All softwood used that normally gets burnt in yard.. Win win win far as we re concerned
2. You might have the mog in 540 pto speed and not 1000.. This caught me out when I went from a rear mount green mech which was 540 pto to a front mount schliesing which unknown to me at time had 1000 pto.. That kept blocking.
3. Chain saw and vertical splitter would do same job. Just to get them small enough to go in machine.. We had some big 3 ft rings which I split in 9 inch wafers like a rectangle. They were the best to be honest..
4. No good as its brambles, small hawthorns etc.. I'll get some photos tomorrow..
5. Ground is very sandy.. Mulching the actual rubbish is not really the problem.. Getting rid of roots and mulching the scrub all in one go would be the benefit of paying someone to do it. We have our own JCB type digger and full time worker to operate.. He can spend all winter there if need be.. We have it for two yrs rent free and will be cropping all,of it this yr so will have good income straight off. Prob is in the deal we have to put a stock fence up (owner buying materials) on some of the boundaries which means need to clear the scrub.. I have to cut the overhang back around the woodlands... Looks like I'll have enough firewood to keep me going for next few yrs..
6. First time I've ever done kindling to be honest.. Goes through machine very easily and looks good in the net.. Lot of what I did was put in dumpy bags and sold to another firewood dealer near me.. Don't have a log left to be honest.. Last bit we cut for logs and mixed with ash and beech
7. Gettin rid of roots, trees etc is not problem.. They can be burnt.. It's the scrub that's around the outside of field that's about 2 metres high full brambles hawthorn etc.. As I say my flail will mulch it down to an inch off ground but still leaves the roots.. Was gonna just keep spraying with roundup over next yer or so to kill.. Then pull rigid cultivator through.. If mulcher would go in ground 4 inches would prob do job..
8. We have just taken on another 100+ acres land that's been derelict for 20 yrs.. There's lot hawthorns etc growing in middle field which we are cleaning with JCB etc.. There are mature beech woods on boundary and 10 metres out the boundary are various trees bushes scrub etc.. Prob is we have to clear this inc roots so we can eventually put a cultivator through it and plant a crop Our flail topper will cut it down and do nice job but will leave roots. Would a big tracked mulcher be the answer and do they get all the roots out. If so does any one have one and be interested in week or 2's work...???
9. put 15 ton through my kindling machine.. anything oversize goes through processor to be split in half first... mine had been cut this time last yr so went through nicely..
10.

20-25 although with softwood it's normally by volume.

The lorry would be full which is main thing

11.
Hi. Artic load of 3 bays of 3 meter would be £1100

12. Could pick a load up if its cut to 3m but won't be till middle next week...
13. Sorry to all above.. Just filling orders that been building up for last few months then I'm back on farming till end October...
14. Mine did same. Although the sawdust underneath caught alight... Mine looks lot worse than that though. Only thing recognisable and of any use is out feed conveyor
15. Mine did this and the linkage was very slightly bent. A little tweak with a long tyre lever sorted it... Until something else went wrong with it. Which wasn't long after. Then when that was sorted wasn't long till something else went wrong........etc... Etc...
16. Used to laugh it firewood guys yrs ago who would price a nice big beech tree take down very cheap as they would have the wood for firewood.. Don't do that but have to say since I berm buying firewood in I take a diff view when pricing jobs.. We did job last week for Russian guy who owns a 40 acre woodland.. Mainly ash beech and sycamore. There were numerous fallen and wind swept trees all over the first 5 acres thst he wanted cut and stacked neatly.. As I was doing the job with mate mine we priced to do same. After we finished I had myb2 lads with 2 high sided transits in there for 2 days removing bone dry ash and beech... On further inspection of rest wood there must be over 200 trees on ground. I'm hiring a dumper next week and will spend as long as it takes for free to clear.. 2 guys can easily clear 26 ton in day which with diesel on my lorry would cost me over £1150 load for cordwood without any time taken into consideration.. 5 yrs ago would laughed at customer if he expected it done for nothing.. For me firewood sales counts for well over half my turn over..
17. Let me have your post code give you a quote..
18. Yes.. Pm sent.
19. Had several cargo and daft 7.5 ton grabs over yrs... Very handy lorrys as long as your prepared to run 2-3 ton overweight.. They hold less than a transit.. Last one I had weighed nearly 6 ton empty with no saws kit, lifting chains on board etc.. That was with a grab same as one in pic with a clam shell bucket even heavier
20. I would but haulage ain't gonna be cheap..£ 2300 delivered 25-26 ton..
21. 07767480117. Up that way beginning next week.
22. Prob 30-40 mins from Windsor. If it all goes on one load you can come past our way on your way back... Amersham is where we are.. Through slough to beaconsfield then amersham then either get back on M1 at J8 or cut across to J13 or 15.. Or we are 10 mins from j 4 M40....
