1. I was driving back from Bangor today down A5 and passes several wagons full timber going north... Thought it strange.. There's no where to go, only in those hills... Diff world up there.. Lovely countryside mind u...
2. and looking again the branch was no where near the cyclist..
3. Cyclist I'd a said. Groundsman is standing in middle of road to stop traffic. Surely the cyclist can see what's going on..
4. i had same with my fleet policy.. Paid £5700 no claims accidents or convictions in that yr then tried puttin it up to £7000... Broker got more quotes and got it for £3800 with diff company.. Had same with my artic. No claims in yr and same broker couldn't get it any less than previous yr. so they halved their commission and did it £100 cheaper.
5. £40-45 cubic metre is about right. Ash, birch, sycamore is usually sold by cube but works out Ashe per load as any other hardwood.. My artic Carrys round 25 metres if its cut to 3m lengths.
6. we looked into doing this 2 yrs ago when chip was around £110 ton... 3 months later it came down to £50 ton... then we had load softwood [which we still have unfelled] to be felled and i could buy it from £15 ton+ roadside... i thought buy 1000 ton.. say £20000 plus haulage.. store it in yard for 3-4 months.. loose 20% due to moisture loss so 800 ton... around £5000 to get it chipped [although we would buy a chipper if all went well] so £80000 less chipping, haulage etc.. still very good profit for short and relitavly little outlay.. think it is up to £100 ton again but what if it goes down!!
7. mate mine has just installed 3 smallish biomas burners... cost of chip compared to oil is lot lot less than half and he gets the rhi grant.... £10000 so far in only few months.... now they have advised him to put another boiler in to heat the floor that the chips are stored on to dry them... burning chip and getting paid for it to dry more chip to get paid to burn... these boilers are £250000 each mind you!!
8. i think they'l be getting the rhi grant unless i'm mistaken which if so sheds whole diff light on it..
9. think you already had quote from them.. their wood, my haulage:001_smile:
10. Don't tempt fate... There's 2 local bridges here that are open but neither have print outs. Another good reason we should put our own weigh bridge in like I keep tellin the old man
11. Get few quotes and I'll see if I can beat them.. My Vermeer will do that no probs.
12. Yeah my mistake.. Just see Wales and assumed m4.. It's on wood lots also.. No good to me, miles out from where I'm gonna be.. Shame.. Had that all sold at £45 ton for biomass
13. I wanted to take load hay to camathern west Wales today.. But have to get it weighed on route and as its a Sunday all weighbrides are closed, except one which is 24 hrs but good hour and £100's worth diesel out my way.. Messed my week up as gotta take it tomorrow..
14. M6????? That's 100's miles away from m4.. Just looked on map. Ther is no j31.. 30... Then 32
15. In fact I'm down that way 4 times in next couple weeks lookin at my diary so I'd buy all of it.. My no 07767480117
16. Forgive me if I'm wrong but I'm sure there is no junction 31 onM4 I'm down that way this week I'd be interested in a load at £30 ton. For chipping.
17. I can see why you'd get the hump. Working Sundays isn't for everyone. We have 7 days week in our adverts so wouldn't worry me in slightest.. Every days same to me..
18. i'm 10 miles fom slough and my chip goes to thetford for some reason.. one of mt cord customers has just put 3 biomas boilers in... thats another 1-2000 ton soft and hard wood needed per yr just for him!!!
19. I no he does.. I'm not as fussy. Any size butt does me...
20. Since 2 nd week September 2012
21. I can travel pretty much anywhere if there's 20+ tons wood available for a bolster trailer.. Large butts etc..
22. Took my 348th load out this afternoon... And that was last of my free wood... God some birch, ash, alder been cut since last may to pickup in artic when snows gone.. Should be dry enough to sell.
23.
hello mate.. £1350 for a full artic load birch, ash, sycamore oak.. all processor size.. thats 3 bays of 3m lengths.. nick..07767480117
