  1. Find a blacksmith who could fabricate them for you ?
  2. vents through vent tube only ever get an egg cup of fuel on this side of valve even when brimming the tank
  3. If it leaks when cornering on full tank fit a 2" ball valve as I have in mine I'll post pic if you like ?
  4. Ha ha yes it's why I no longer frequent landrover forums far too many armchair experts who don't like to be told there wrong from people who know and work on them ! Iirc the max towing weight on series is lower than 3500kg
  5. Re the "axle issue" I was merely pointing out that all 110s up to a point on Td5 build were factory fitted with Salisbury axles as standard be it drum or disc brakes ! Is the figure for your 2a GVW or GTW ?
  6. All 110s are fitted with Salisbury rear axles regardless of weight class this is up until the late td5 onward which then use the uprated standard looking axle ! The 3500kgs also had strength added to the chassis in certain areas iirc a lot had both front and rear anti roll bars and other than springs and shocks there standard as said make sure the wheels are rated to the weight ! N
  7. Some are not all I bet so no
  8. The polymer tank is 1200litres water capacity nominal capacity for use is 1000 litres with 200 litres of ullage so the cage should be 1200 litre of space eg 1.2 cube without airspace !
  9. That's a good setup I have done several like that !
  10. Jon also re the full system for instance the front calipers are sticking or stuck or any of them are full of mud etc stopping them returning properly they will bind or if there is a lazy calipers then the others have more work to do therefor putting more strain through them more heat more warping that's why it may sound womanly naming on about full health check on the whole system but brakes are vital and properly working in full health a 300tdi 110 will stop well ! Even better with updated parts eg cross drilled and groves discs and high quality pads and braided brake flexible pipes !
  11. As i say can't put vented on rear you would in effect over brake the rear axle and cause some quite interesting and potentially dangerous stopping I'd like to see the rear discs if possible rather than the fronts to confirm but I know of no one doing calipers to fit the rears that will take vented discs ! As said John you need thorough service of the braking system and find out what's causing the calipers to stick and warm up the discs and warp them
  12. Those rears are classed as solid there cross drilled and grooved the fronts will be vented like two discs together with air space you probably have ebc discs and pads or all makes.
  13. If it's leaking them it's going to probably be the P gasket on the front of the block behind the alternator and powers tearing bracket or the rad or one of the hoses Google p gasket 300tdi very common make sure you get it done with using the metal type genuine gasket
  14. If it was me I'd stay with a good 300. 200s parts are starting to dry up like I said above there are only second hand heads avaliable no new 200 heads ! Injectors are recon only for 200s now John as I said in pm get it to someone with the know how and tools to check the block face and head for warping 300s have a nasty habit of warping the blocks of cooked up to much and as fat sad I know it writes the block off as it may not have enough material to alow for a trueing skim without affecting the piston to head clearance
  15. Known td5s to be retro fitted with 300tdi lumps ! Horses for courses you love em or hate them and there are more "experts" out there than you can shake sticks at I know what I know and when I dont know it I ask ! Can't say fairer than that
  16. All landrover engines have issues ! Tdcis yes but not sure as to what there a bit to modern for me to have many dealings with ! They wouldn't have had 200 or 300s fitted into them as they won't fit easily gearboxes chassis mounts axles engine bay all different !
  17. Jon I don't know it all depends how much the person selling it wants for it ! Like I say ask turners the will do a full recon shirt engine for a good price ! They have it all on there website !
  18. Jon give turners engineering a call but yes if your thinking of a replacement engine you would only want to buy a lower mileage unit with known good service history !
  19. It's more refined but the 200 is more forgiving of abuse where as the 300 is less forgiving just a point to remember is that there are no new 200tdi cylinder heads produced by anyone ATM so they are in finite supply where as 300 heads are still made new !
  20. Talk to turner engineering but from what you have said I would be vary wary about the state of the block too the don't move much but enough to cause continued head gasket issues !
  21. In standard tune it will be potentially sluggish tuned then they will pull well just don't over do the tune !
  22. With a good viscous coupling and good radiator DNS cowling the standard fan is overkill ! If yours is getting hot again I pull think either the head is goosed the block has warped which is not uncommon in 300tdis the rads shot or the thermostat is u/s and not opening fast enough or at all water pump may not be doing its job (unlikely) or it's not been bled properly the radiator has a filler cap on front top meeds to be removed and filled to top no air then the same plug on the top of the thermostat housing needs opening and make sure this is also full otherwise it is at risk of air lock also all of the above should be done with heater on hot too !
