  1. Jon who knows without seeing and working on it I couldn't tell you all I can do is what I have done and give you the pointers that could be at fault
  2. No one makes vented calipers and you need to keep the bias to the front for correct stopping properly maintained brakes with free moving none biinding or sticking Pistons good discs and pads and regular brake fluid changes (2 years) and good servo and master cylinder should stop that landrover on a sixpence ! It's amazing the number of landrovers which I have seen with sticking Pistons makes a big big difference ! That's why I tend to rebuild all my calipers using stainless steel Pistons which don't corrod and stick !
  3. There is no vented option for the rear axle personally I run front vented and rear standards the all makes cross drilled and groves performance discs are good and green stuff encourage pads help too !
  4. You have to put the paint on thick on a landrover bare panels are so rippled it's funny how much filler from factory there is in them !
  5. Ha ha Chris how many have I seen without a code stamped on the vin plate !
  6. There is a landrover paint code website that blue I believe is Arles blue !
  7. Yes Jon BFGs are nearly all rated higher weight than needed for landrovers
  8. Check out the Zus they look the nuts and various colours and weight wise Mack 5s in steel are like anvils ! Heavy and as dear as a set of Zus I bet
  9. Like I said the ZU alloys are rated for a full GVW 130 with trailer I know this due to a very good friend needing to be able to utilise max payload on the 130 they are rated to 1400kgs each and are TUV approved also slow wider tyres to be fitted ! And weigh a lot less than wolf rims ! Also worth making sure your tyres are rated for speed and weight too BFGs most if not all of there patterns are but certain Yokohama tyres for example are not rated to the weight of a loaded 130 !
  10. The ZU alloys are with exception of the ones in above post only after markets with the correct load rating most landrover alloys are not rated and dispite a lack of problems using them I wouldn't like to make a claim with under rated wheels ...... Insurance company's will wriggle at he slightest things nowadays
  11. Had a mate strumming for me once and he found a toad straight through the visor glad I was shoving the Lawnboy around lol !
  12. Friend of mine tried the cheaper ones then due too both him and his wife's back issues they bought a tempur one and say it's the best of the lot !
  13. Yup it was my dads had it from new now got it myself first saw I used now going to get her back to life and use it along side the 260, 044 and 064
  14. Where do people think is best to get parts for the above its a mid to late 80s machine with chain brake I need parts for the Back handle and filler caps for starts any help appreciated
  15. Trust me it's much cheaper than the hassles of an insurance claim if you loose a trailer whilst towing !
  16. Did it cook up on either times and how long between head gaskets has it been ? 300tdi's have a habit if cooked hard to warp the face of the block which at best means you need it decked or trued on same machine as the head, if it just gone not cooked get a head from turners and get it fitted if yours has been skimmed to the limits they supply good stuff fast !
  17. En58J spec seems to fall right in the middle of 316 and 320. 320 is 17 Cr, 12 Ni, 2.5 Mo plus a trace of Ti balance is Fe
  18. 300 series which is one of the common non mag stainless alloy series are steel alloys there for contain iron and as 304 and 316 are the most common grades used commonly I won't take the chance I think there is a big clue in the words stainless STEEL lol
  19. If your not towing use a spare face plate for the Dixon bate adjustable hitch, on my 110 hicap I used to have one bolted to the inside of the tailgate !
  20. Unfortunately not due to the very high magnetic power sources even non magnetic metals can behave weirdly so as stainless is a mix of iron and various other metals even non magnetic I would still if at all possible warn them if I were to be undergoing an MRI scan like I said earlier you only get one pair of eyes and I would like to keep it that way
  21. Who is the hitch head made by ? Trailparts used to list parts Aw d diagrams to many hitch units
  22. Trust me I have had metal and grit rust dust chips from die grinders etc safety glasses always I'd still be wary of an Mri after 20 plus years of workshop life lol
  23. I have spent last three years working with 300 series stainless ! I'm doomed lol
