  1. I'm surprised at that htb, must be some trees about then ?. Maybe I'm thinking of shetland?
  2. Seen a tracked bandit for sale on orkney, seller said he would ship the chipper to aberdeen port after payment! There ain't no trees on orkney, and I'm pretty sure there ain't no chippers either ??
  3. I use a husky 550. Never bother with anything smaller.
  4. That's a decent speed right enough ?. Were you blasting old paint off the door?
  5. I gave my mate a ton of grit to use with one of these kits, he said it was really slow and used loads of the grit to do one small panel. Couldn't reuse the grit again either. Did you find it quite slow Bob?

    Port Timing

Check out the ironhorse on YouTube, he does some videos explaining port mapping. I thought he explained it well.

    Highlands

Just watching a repeat of Highlands - scotlands heart, and fc staff on it climbing scots pine tree to inspect an osprey nest. Spiking right up the stem! You would think they would know better.
  10. Reg Coates uses a Vega so it must be good ?

What type of hone do you use spud? Have you tried the ball hones?
  12. Who else on here chips as much of this crap as possible? I wonder if 15 quid a tree will cover the damage to his property? ??
  13. Be careful using sand, very bad for you and anyone nearby! I use iron silicate it does not turn to dust so easily. I always thought there might be some salt In the sand when I used to blast with it, seemed to rust much quicker than when I use the iron silicate. I started off using a little hand held sand blasting gun hooked upto the 240v compressor, was ok for small areas of rust but I've moved on to proper blast pot and diesel compressor with air fed helmet, do a whole tractor wheel in minutes ?
  14. Pretty sure most modern bunded steel tanks are only steel on the outer skin, actual fuel tank inside is plastic.
  15. Must be doable, local guy to me is always doing stuff like this. His last pickup conversion was a big old volvo estate ?? and it was on the road.
  16. Good on you spud ? nice to see a professional porter giving advice to someone who wants to have a crack at it themselves.
  17. My mate has a tracked Jensen with about 3500 hours on it, still goes well but has had to have the chipper drum welded up because the chip has started to wear through it. No major issues before that.
  18. Nice setup ?. Did you convert the grain trailer yourself? Is that an ex brick grab crane?
  19. If the av mounts are knackered check the wires that run between crankcase and tank, just stripped an old 254 down today and both blue and red wires going to rear handle were broken.
  20. Loads of selfish twats coming up here to the highlands in their campervans to self isolate! And emptying the shelves in our wee local shops ??
  21. Is that the almost indestructible tyres that look like they are off a forklift?
  22. Same here, chipper is on the tipper trailer more than the plant trailer.
  23. Is that the case with the cummins engine?
  24. Arborisk for my van based mewp.
  25. I heard a great saying the other day, old wood cutter was asked to take down a few big spruce trees for a wealthy home owner who said he could keep all the timber if he did the job for nothing. His reply was brilliant! That is like saying to a dog Walker you can keep the dog shit if you walk my dog for free ???
