  1. Literally took 5 mins to do once i was set up. It's just a light touch with the grinding wheel on the tip of the tooth.
  2. Two ropes attached to a single bridge! Very dangerous, you better get a second bridge ????. All joking aside this is prob the best way to have it set up for double rope ?, I used the same setup with hitch climbers when I had to use 2 ropes.
  3. I just sharpened the tips, I do the same on the silky saw head but you can use a file on it as the metal is not hardened.
  4. Had a go at sharpening my old silky with the dremel. It actually worked ok, not as sharp as a new blade but ok.
  5. How much did it cost in total If you dont mind me asking?
  6. That's a beast of a trailer ?. If I were you I'd get some builders bags, put 1 in the trailer then fill it up, youd prob fit another bag in the back of the connect too. You could then post in the overloaded thread too ??. I checked my local supplier the other day, they are advertising 90x90x90 bag of oak for £150! Kiln dried right enough.
  7. We would have the Scottish pound! Its obviously a different currency as it's not the first time Its been refused for use down south ???
  8. The safest way to do the trees in the video would be to fell across the hill 1 tree at a time and winch them out with a digger bucket winch, not the volume there for a skyline. Imo it looks worse than it is, I've been doing this for years with no probs ( touch wood ) ?, if you have your escape route planned and go to the safe side like I did in the video it's safe as houses.
  9. Are some of your customers requesting welfare on site too? Think I will have to trade the wee van in for a welfare van soon, it's either that or get a portaloo moved to every site I'm on!
  10. That's ok if all the tree is going to be on the ground, but if like the ones in the video 50 ft of the tree would be in mid air, leaving it on the hinge is way more dangerous and I dont want to be dicking about nibbling at a hinge in that situation.
  11. Like this? Poor quality un focused footage, I ain't no Spielberg ? 20191125_145555.mp4
  12. I usually only use the humbolt cut for felling down hill when sticks are being winched uphill, I just use a shallow angled deeper conventional cut for felling uphill so it breaks off the hinge before coming in contact with the ground.
  13. You have to stay in Wales! ?
  14. Is this made from plastic or metal? I'd be interested in a cutting list ?
  15. Same here but they usually only use the standard one on forest gates. Do they use 2 different ones on forest gates with you?
  16. Pretty sure you only have to change the power mate and bar on the 357 to convert to run .325 chain. Mine came with .325 but I converted it to 3/8 th for brashing, the heavier chain stood up to the abuse better imo. I would go with .325 for firewood, but you can easy convert back to 3/8th if you keep the old parts.
  17. Aye it's not really much of a lock for that reason, there must me thousands of those keys in circulation ??.
  18. Not my personal lock, I'm using the forestry commission lock.
  19. Sorry but thanks for all the concern anyway ?.
  20. I'm still alive! And made it home after un bolting the hinges ? I will be taking the cordless grinder with me on monday to cut the offending idiots padlock off if it's still there ?.
  21. Not what you want to see on a friday when your trying to get home! Some people have no common sense ??.
  22. Always jobs going at sse (hydro) in fort and oban, they take on guys with no tickets and train them up. Have you been working for geo rope?
  23. At least they have good old Dwayne defflas back on ?
