  1. Yes! Sorry, My posh southern bbc accent was skewing the authenticity of that one. ?
  2. I don’t get this one! Can someone explain for me?
  3. Hopefully the wind will be blowing down the line, ?
  4. Aha, Someone’s not getting any corn in the cob this year then!
  5. Do you plant your sweet corn I’m blocks? I done mine in two staggered lines, but since learnt they need to be in blocks to pollinate?
  6. First year growing veg with a concerted effort. Loving my Rhino greenhouse, and touch wood most things seem to be coming along nicely- but some stuff wasn’t even planted until May so perhaps a bit behind.. just had first courgettes- and cucumbers are just got their first fruits. I find it quite obsessive- it’s the first thing I check on when I come home from work, give the chickens a talking to then go in to say hi to the family!
  7. Because it’s a shit system, I believe all buisnesses should be the same, they either all pay vat or they don’t. Whilst it’s like it is, customers are always going to view VAT as an add on when other contractors are not having to charge it.
  8. But then to play devils advocate, two Reputable contractors Come to your house to quote for a tree, one is £3000 and one is £3600, who would you go with? im not vat registered, i work on my own doing digger work, fencing etc, i went vat registered last year and promptly de-registered, just didn’t feel it was the right thing for my buisness and customer base. I would have deffo benefited when it came to buying machinery etc if I had stayed registered, But in terms of quoting against vat registered contractors I felt I was always going to be able to be more competitive, and customer essentially ‘pays’ for the vat on machinery anyway. Plus more time spent doing vat returns, or paying accountant etc.
  9. And as longevity goes I’ve had a Mak DUC353 for 2 and a half years now and literally the only one I’ve had to do any work to it is putting a derailed chain back on. They’re going up in price a bit now though, mine was only £120 (bare). Probably the best £120 I’ve ever spent!
  10. By my calculations that would need roughly 60ton of gravel if Renewing. But the sub base is everything so maybe there has been an allowance to repair the pot holed subase? Don’t really want gravel deeper then 50mm either. I did a job back at Christmas, compacted 4”scalpings laid on Terram and then dressed with 40mm of gravel and compacted again which slightly beds the gravel into the sub base and 6 months on it’s still all in place whereas I think deeper gravel just gets pushed around.
  11. I’ve not tried one, but have a 18v 4” one and as everyone else says it doesn’t last long. Would have thought the 36v 230mm wouldn’t really last much longer either as you’d be cutting bigger stuff anyway? But please buy one so you can let me know if they are a waste of money or not. ?
  12. Well I applied, a month ago, recieved an email a week later saying they’d received my application- then radio silence.... have banked with HSBC for 15 years, 10 years with buisness account so not very impressed really.
  13. Just don’t go with HSBC for your bounce back loan!!
  14. And cost you £40k in depreciation ?!
  15. Yeah exactly- I’m considering selling my 2.8t Takeuchi. It’s 2500hrs 2007 and very straight and I would want around £12k for it.
  16. Makita DTW1001Z 18v LXT Brushless 3/4 Impact Wrench Body Only | Powertool World WWW.POWERTOOLWORLD.CO.UK Makita DTW1001Z 18v LXT Brushless 3/4 Impact Wrench Body Only - Nut busting... I have the above with the 3/4 inch drive, I have an adaptor for 1/2inch sockets too. Same physical size as the 1002. I use mine all the time- from small stuff like rattling off gate fixtures and iron work off telegraph poles, through to work on my digger etc. It has 3 settings on it and don’t find it oversized myself, if it is I can usually just do it with my impact driver with - hex-1/4 inch adaptor and sockets. the amount of time and grazed knuckles, broken ratchets it saves....
  17. Tidy work!
  18. I think the DUC 353 is the tooless tensioning one, the DUC 355 is normal tensioning and with twin bolts for the side casing, longer bar too. i have the former and it’s been absolutely fine, although the 355 does look more robust
  19. Shit I haven’t planted anything yet- you lot are making me feel stressed. I’m installing a greenhouse at the moment- so will get some seeds going ASAP.
  20. I like my eggs hard and rubbery- be it boiled, fried or poached, eating an unfertilised foetus is bad enough but a raw one is even worse.
  21. Is that the one RSL engineering do with the Serated blade on the back- often thought it looked like a good idea for ripping through the larger roots that the tooth would t break on it’s own
  22. Yeah I do mine ASAP in April- dont like anything hanging over me.
  23. Enjoying doing a few jobs with the Kubota. The last few was a bit of an oddball job repairing an old ruin so customer could put a roof on it to make a log shed.
  24. ? but your welcome To visit the digger thread if you want to see how it’s done...
  25. But using that methodology is the same as dismantling a mature oak with a silky and a butter knife ?
