  1. Modest too- you really are the whole package! ?
  2. You get a lot of stick on this forum and sometimes rightly so- but you don’t half talk sense sometimes! ?
  3. Yeah- only yesterday watching them in the commons- certainly Boris and Hancock were not adhering to the 2m rule.
  4. Can’t be right because isn’t £50k the cap? If that’s £50k turnover I reckon that’s most of us eliminated
  5. Depends how long the rain lasts for.....!
  6. For sure- for me I think the long term implications of all this is probably more concerning than the virus itself . Severe economic global depression I reckon with far reaching consequences, It’d be nice to think that there will be a reduction in globalisation and countries could aim to become more self sufficient and content with what we have here rather than all this ridiculous travelling all over the place, everyday foods in supermarkets coming half way round the world etc...
  7. Exactly, can’t have it both ways.
  8. I think it sounds good to me. the tax year is ending- if any of us have a viable buisness it is likely we will be paying tax. With the tax payment delayed, use that money to help tide you over to June, try and do any jobs that can be done under the bounds of safety... I don’t think we can ask for a lot more TBH. personnally- if I get enough work to tide me over that I can safely do I’d prefer to just do that- but everyone’s situation is different and I’m lucky that I work on my own in remote places most of the time.
  9. I’ve had this once before, only we actually made it to site with kit and materials where we were told it could not go ahead today. I billed them for the day and they paid (commercial customer) and have continued to use me. I think you did the right thing- you shouldn’t have to be out of pocket- at cost maybe would have been the compromise...
  10. Thanks, might take you up on that if this lock down goes on too long.
  11. We got a letter from our school- my wife is NHS so key worker but I’m not so obviously children (child in our case) weren’t expected to be at school. Seems fair to me otherwise when you look at key workers list I reckon almost everyone’s other half would be considered one! ?
  12. How much for one of your largest inflatables? PM me if you prefer.
  13. China may have done a good job of locking people down granted- but It’ll be interesting to see what happens now they are relaxing the rules- I know what my money is on...
  14. A hen is for life not just for Corona!
  15. Don’t forget the enclosure, I spend an unfathomable about of money building my a walk in run for the ladies last year. One died within a month and the other two are very good layers but end up spending most of the time in the garden anyway- so that was money well spent!
  16. I would agree- I think some kind of balance/compromise has to be met. Personally I think key workers and those that can undertake work whilst abiding strictly with the current health guidelines would probably be it. I just can’t see the logic in a full scale lock down- just delaying the problem and potentially making it worse in other arenas. As the great (!) mr trump said today, no point the cure becoming worse than the disease. To me it just comes down to pure common sense rather than a one size fits all policy?
  17. Could be enough to save the day for many- even if it just buys time ?
  18. Yeah I can see that. Even out here though there’s still a sense of guilt about carrying on- but really it’s an unfounded feeling. I’ve got more chance of sneezing over my garden fence and spreading it then out here!
  19. No you mean crooks declaring their earnings- just because we are self employed doesn’t mean we are dishonest. I’ve paid more tax in the last few years then I ever did when I was employed (admittedly 10 years ago). Buying an asset for your buisness is not trying to worm your way out of tax (they get you in the end), fiddling the numbers or being creative with what they are using for the buisness or whatever people do is a different thing.
  20. Well I’m working today, I see absolutely no reason how I can possibly be a risk to anyone as working entirely on my own an miles from anywhere. Unless the government is happy to pay me instead to cover the bills, until have point I will do all of my no risk jobs I have lined up. I wouldn’t work in any kind of built up area, even a garden, not worth it.
  21. 13- I reckon the environment is seeing a lot of positives in this.
  22. And I fear they will, which will ruin it for those who can scrape a living at this time without putting others at risk. Although part of me thinks, do they want a full lock down? Is a steady but manageable stream of infections better for the sake of immunity. I still think that if everyone is in full lock down then the infections will be much lower, but only until we are given a false sense of security and released again an which point, bham its back to square one again. I’ve always thought the virus needs to do its thing but hopefully at a rate the health services can cope
  23. I’ve got a grab lorry doing a few days for me over the next 2 days and local plant hire are delivering a dumper and moving my digger for me. We have agreed to abide by all guidelines around social distancing and no one will be coming into contact with anyone as job is in the middle of no where. Once again, common sense should rule the roost. Seeing the packed tube trains- well that’s just plain asking for trouble.
  24. Ahhhh, some clear cut official guidelines at last!
  25. Feel your pain. I suspect everyone is feeling the frustration to not crack on as per normal. I have a lot of work ahead of me- 95% of it involves not seeing a soul all day- but if we are put in lock down- I guess it can’t be one rule for one and another for another? The twist of the blade is the nice weather on the cards for the next two weeks- been waiting for this for 6 months! Regarding childcare- my other half is a ‘key’ worker. But the school sent us a letter (and I agree with them) saying If the partners are not key workers then the child should stay at home. I wouldn’t want her going to school anyway. So we are in lock down in the garden at the moment!
