  1. But a cheap pair of work boots will offer as much protection as chainsaw boots will in that situation...
  2. Before doing anything I'd strongly suggest that you visit the forums at pepipoo.com It may be an odd name, but they have a mass of information about speeding tickets and how to deal with them. Very useful in my experience.
  3. I gave my son his first haircut at 18 months. While my wife was out. She made it clear to me that I was to have nothing to do with the kids' haircuts ever again. Ever. Don't know what the fuss was about, it was only a number 4 and looked pretty smart to me
  4. Have you ever read the story of the Emperor's New Clothes?
  5. Stein Revolution come in extra long. The type Cs are a bit warm but I'm really pleased with the type As I'm using now. I ordered a pair of these and a pair of Stretch Airs from Jonesies so I could try them both and send one pair back. The Steins won.
  6. I reckon most of us could manage to find a reasonably tidy tractor for £160,000 if we had to!
  7. Those are the ones I use too, I always have some with me. Great in the van on the motorway, sleeping at festivals or when next door are partying, or just when the kids are arguing There are loads of different types available and you can get selection packs for a few quid and find ones that work best for you.
  8. We've been using Kashflow for a couple of years and it's really easy. I actually enjoy doing VAT returns now because they only take about 30 seconds
  9. I like the Canon printers and have just bought a 5250 to replace my trusty old 3000 which finally gave up the ghost. They're about £100 and have got excellent reviews. I'm happy that I made a good choice. As for ink, I never use the ludicrously expensive branded stuff. I get mine from INKredible.co.uk - cheap, good quality, excellent service (I don't have any connection with them other than as a repeat customer).
  10. That would be wicked. A Beta would be better of course though

    Air rifle

Now being dusted off by another Arbtalker
  12. Got mine today, thanks. I particularly like the red one! The XXLs are bigger than most, may have to order XL if I don't manage to shrink them a bit in the tumble drier

    Air rifle

I've got an Edgar Brothers Model 100 .22 underlever with a Hawke Sport HD 3-9x40 scope gathering dust on my shelf. It was bought by my father-in-law in a moment of overenthusiasm with the notion that he'd use it for vermin control. As far as I know it has never been fired. You could undoubtedly get better for £300 (I don't know much about air rifles, but I'm pretty sure this is nothing special), but you can have the lot for £100 plus postage if that's of any interest?
  14. I haven't done a lot of climbing but have used a Sequoia and the new Harkie. FWIW I found the Harkie much more comfortable.
  15. Looks like fun, and not far from me. If they're authentic F1 size I doubt I'd fit my lanky legs in though!
  16. The leaf shape looks like Sorbus x intermedia, but that has orange/red fruit and wouldn't generally grow to the height of your tree. Have you got any better pictures? One of the whole tree? A clearer one of the fruit?
  17. I went along once as a guest and that's exactly the conclusion I came to. Presumably it does work for some people but I couldn't see it working for me.
  18. We were on the Thames between Reading and Oxford a few weeks ago and there were Red Kites around constantly. I've never seen so many before, it was more like watching seagulls!
  19. I'm considering a similar type of setup so will be very interested to see what people come up with. Whereabouts are you bunnybasher?
  20. I use one of the big felling levers and definitely wouldn't swap it for one of the small ones. They seem a bit pointless to me tbh. It's important to make sure you don't put any sideways force on it when you give it some welly because that will definitely bend it. Otherwise they seem OK and I don't think there's much difference between the makes. It's true that the bigger bars can be a tight fit, but it's easy enough to open up the kerf a bit to get it in.
  21. I'm looking to buy a couple and I like the idea of the plastic version, but as far as I can see the inserts are only available as replacements. Do they actually sell high lift wedges complete with the plastic inserts, or do I have to start off with wooden ones?
  22. Another vote for the 560XP. Much as I like my 346 it has definitely been relegated to spare saw since I got the 560.
  23. My kids' school ditched the prison trays last year. They also improved the food and generally made lunchtime more civilised. Sometimes when I am working at home I go into school at lunchtime and eat with them!
