  1. See what you can get from turning up to do a day's work for an amount which so many people derided - a glowing reference and 4 weeks work.
  2. Another for your register - a one off built for a tender to replace the Scammel Commander. Now being run with a different engine and gearbox by ALE as a ballast tractor
  3. Thought I recognised it from your first pic Twisted! Don't forget the hard-dogs they had patrolling too. Nothing ever got nicked though - fortunately! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  4. Common problems would be rust along the top of the chassis rails from the doors backwards, rear crossmember corrosion (not always easy to spot) and also the bulkhead, at the top between the vents and the hinges and in the footwells, especially the panels ahead of the doors (crud gets trapped between the wing and the outside of this panel, which is generally not waxoyled). Then there are problems specific to which engine is in it. May be best to join your local Owners Club, they aren't as nerdy as you may think and members will be all too happy to make recommendations and view potential purchases. Also a good way to learn the limits of the vehicle and how to safely drive to them:) Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  5. You won't get much of a defender for a grand, and it'll not be cheap keeping it going. Anything for that money will probably not have too much chassis left. Sent from my Galaxy SII using Tapatalk
  6. Not on today's rates you wouldn't Sent from my Galaxy SII using Tapatalk
  7. Wouldn't it be better to burn the diesel used in the shipping of the timber and all the diesel used by the offshore wind turbines in the power stations? Sent from my Galaxy SII using Tapatalk
  8. Tree monkey on here has one - he posted some pics in the "Daf 4x4 timber lorry" thread Sent from my Galaxy SII using Tapatalk
  9. Bump! - I'm available again if anyone has anything
  10. Tickets bought. Would have liked to have done more, but I'm a bit quiet right now. Hopefully next year .......!

Been thinking about doing the same for a few months now. The arrival of the Tamar recently has made me even more keen Sent from my Galaxy SII using Tapatalk
  13. I have genuine heavy duty springs with Decarbon shocks. They've been ok for about 11 years but are starting to sag a bit now Sent from my Galaxy SII using Tapatalk
  14. Went in and saw Albert yesterday. Broken rivet replaced for £1.50. Hopefully I'll get another 4 weeks out of that chain now! Thanks for the tip Andy:thumbup:

If you would like to contribute to making this industry more effective and safe then welcome.
Just like a living tree, it'll always be a work in progress.
