    Yep, I’m using it now. For a quick catch up of what’s going on I find Tapatalk much slicker. It seems to work pretty well everywhere else, but it’s obviously Steve’s call.

    That’s a shame. I use Tapatalk for al the forums that I’m on and it works very well It’s much slicker than any web based format that I’ve seen, and makes really good use of space on a small screen. It will definitely mean that I visit Arbtalk less often.

    It’s been replaced by the GHIC which gives the same cover so no benefit in dashing to renew if you don’t need to. Still need insurance anyway (and always have) if you want to be covered for medical repatriation.

    I’d take a portable capstan winch over a Tirfor any day. In the absence of proper machinery it’s the only thing that’s going drag felled trees out of the way reasonably efficiently. A Tirfor is definitely better than nothing but it’s hard work and very slow.

    Yes, they pretty much all did. A couple needed a bit of encouragement to go all the way down, but none of them stayed on edge.

    The course requirements are 15” bar and I used my 346XP. I did have a quick go with Phil’s MS 500i though, and if I was in the market for a bigger saw I might just cross over to the dark side. It’s a beast!

    My 346XP (silver side) has a broken stop switch. I’ve got the new part but can’t easily see how to replace it and I’m hesitant to just start taking things apart randomly. Can someone clue me up please?

    I don’t know of any class 2/3 but Haix Protector Pro or Meindl Airstream do big sizes.

    I really like Tapatalk. It works well for me and I use it for all my forum reading. There aren’t any forums that I visit using a browser any more, and even tend to use my phone for forums when I’m in front of a PC.

    Like Stere says, it won’t get infected from the main stem but will almost certainly still get infected anyway.
