  1. OK, definitely a fir and not any kind of spruce in that case. I was suckered in by your upside down photo in the first post!
  2. Aspen do one and it should be available from your dealer. They call it the Fill Partner.
  3. It seems that with business pages Facebook restrict the number of organic page views that you get, preferring you to pay for them by continually boosting posts. Don't assume that people will see what you post on Facebook unless you pay for it. Facebook can be a useful tool, but I wouldn't want to rely on it too much.
  4. That looks like Chalara to me. Those lesions and the reddish brown discolouration are typical. The effect of the disease is cyclic, with multiple infections causing a cumulative effect over a number of years. Infected areas die back but in the early stages don't have much impact on the overall health of the tree. Over successive seasons the tree will tend to get reinfected, with more and more of the canopy showing symptoms. The black wilted leaves are only seen on newly affected growth, but I think that what you are seeing is poor growth from a part of the tree previously damaged by Chalara.
  5. It's working fine on the regular Tapatalk app on iOS now. Thanks
  6. Will it still be available on Tapatalk?
  7. Although the NFI only includes woodland of 0.5ha and up, it also makes reference to "smaller woods" between 0.1 and 0.5ha...
  8. I'm with Stubby on either of his recommendations: a 100% reduction or leave well alone. If the client doesn't have a particular need to meet, then you're unlikely to satisfy them. If you muck around with the trees they aren't going to look good, and it will be your fault.
  9. That's the only thing I can think of, but as far as I know it would need ads to be using Flash. Which I don't think any of them are. There may be other ways I guess, but it's not something I know very much about.
  10. That link is just to a single file (this thread). If you run it for the whole site it still comes up with the warning: https://virustotal.com/en/url/d0a522331409c51867e0d0ec447fbf8bfc67eff91074a3a287a1fe3961b61bb7/analysis/1494369001/
  11. It doesn't appear to be browser specific. I had it happen on Firefox, and people have reported it with a number of other browsers.
  12. There's an interesting article about it here: http://www.field-studies-council.org/news/ash-before-oak-we’re-in-for-a-soak,-oak-before-ash-we’re-in-for-a-splash.aspx
  13. I had it today. The first time I've logged into Arbtalk via the web site in ages (I normally use Tapatalk) and it came up after about a minute
  14. Give F R Jones a call. They don't list spares on their web site, but they hold a good range in stock and can get most other bits in a day or two.
  15. He'll make plenty on it. He's on a day rate and is going to be there until Christmas
  16. Here you go: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/152431897121 Looks interesting!

    Burning

My current favourite method is to use plenty of pallet wood to get your fire started, then don't overload it. It can still take a couple of hours to get hot enough to keep up though. Wherever possible embers from yesterday's fire are a massive head start. I've found that using a blower isn't as much help as I thought it would be. It's sometimes useful, but can make the inside of a fire burn down very quickly without catching the rest of the brash. When the odds are against you a propane magic wand really speeds things up, but it is a bit extravagant
  18. Why are you putting signs out? If you're going to drop stuff into the road you'll need more than signs. If you're not going to drop stuff in the road you won't need signs!
  19. I'd be surprised if the value of the timber merits getting that sort of machine in. Nice to have though!
  20. Andy Wright at English Woodlands has a harvesting team based in East Sussex. They're pretty busy, but might be worth a call.
  21. Arrived today. Second edition (most recent), ex-library copy so a bit dog-eared, but perfectly adequate. Thanks for spotting it!
  22. What have you got against the brambles? They're not doing your trees any harm, and they'll get shaded out once the canopy develops. I'd leave them, and just cut paths where you need access.
