  1. Shame he forgot to pack a winch for dealing with the hung up tree then!
  2. I've had a LWB 2.5l T4 as my daily drive for a few years now and it is excellent. Driven sensibly it does 33 mpg, on a steady run, lightly loaded, it will do 40 mpg. I added cruise control for under £100 which helps. If you want seats in the back then try to get a van which had them factory fitted as I've found that a lot of insurance companies won't touch a van with after market seats (even if professionally fitted). Having said that I've got a good price from my current insurer now.
  3. I'm loving my 560 so far. It's a tree eating chip-blizzard! I did snap a chain brake band a couple of weeks ago, but my dealer (DM Chainsaws in West Sussex) sent one out to me for the next day which was great. Starting hasn't been a problem at all. I hadn't been using the decomp button as it seemed to start easier without. Having read Stubby's advice I started using it again, and it's starting as easily as my 346.

  5. Depending on how much experience you have you may be better off with something a bit less powerful for your assessment. A 346XP for instance is going to be a bit more forgiving and make you less likely to overcut your gob or hinge. I've got both and tend to pick the 560 for most jobs at the moment. I don't think I would have wanted it as a total beginner's saw though.
  6. Your best bet would be the Surrey and Sussex Coppice Group: http://coppicegroup.wordpress.com/
  7. Done. Didn't really understand the question about how I'd like things described though! I really like the TreeId and WinterTreeId apps, although I would prefer them to be combined and to include more species especially conifers. I'm much more likely to use an app than a book if they contain comparable data as I've always got my phone with me.
  8. What about a strop/lanyard? Or just climb on both ends of the rope to start?
  9. Uh, surely that's just obvious!
  10. No, no, no! Bubble and squeak doesn't have cheese in it. Or any other nonsense for that matter. Potato and cabbage, that's what you need. I'm going to start a campaign for real BS! JD's offering certainly looks like a good plate of scoff, but it's not bubble and squeak in my book.
  11. You should reckon on a few percent duty and 20% vat, plus a handling charge of about £10 from the carrier (Parcelforce etc). If it's something small you may not get any charges, but don't bank on it.
  12. Those deployment bags are great, and at that price are a proper bargain. I've just ordered another couple - postage is a bit steep so best to order a few at a time
  13. I'm planning to go on Friday. Got any spare tickets?

  16. Could someone explain for the uninitiated what that means and why it's a bad thing? Ta.

  19. I couldn't find anything there which was a shame. Looks like it's mail order or nothing.

  22. Well, for the record I'd say that the Saturday visit was well worth it although two days would be better. I stayed until 4ish and didn't see anyone packing up, although some of the people manning stands were displaying clear signs of show fatigue!

  24. Was he the guy doing the demos on the Honey Bros stand? He was quite persuasive. I'm not even a climber but I want a Rope Wrench now!
