  1. And with a bit of luck, here it is in all its glory!
  2. And the picture won't load. I'll try again later...
  3. This is how it turned out! Thanks to se7enthdevil for doing a great job, and thanks to Arbtalk as ever for putting people together.
  4. I'm 6'6" tall, 36" inside leg. I wear Stein Revolutions and I'm happy with them. I tried some much more expensive stretch airs, but went with the Steins and don't regret it.
  5. Is this the landowner you're working for, or a neighbour?

    Parkrun

I've not made it to parkrun recently. Had a stupid cold last week so could hardly breathe let alone run, and away on a course this weekend. Won't make it next weekend either, but haven't abandoned it completely!

    Tree ID?

    Spot on. Thanks all!

    Tree ID?

Anyone got any ideas what this is? It's a lousy picture just to make it extra challenging

    Parkrun

With a bit of luck after a few goes I'll be able to try that. Took me most of last week to be able to walk without hobbling, and I'm creaking around like a goodun today!

27.44 felt like a lot if work to take just 45 seconds off last week's time! Knackered. Still don't like running...
  11. Because it's your first post and you revived an old thread to promote a business. £10 says you have some financial interest in that broker
  12. Probably too late for you with your signwriting but if anyone else is in a similar situation then have a look at soho66.co.uk I don't have any connection with the company other than as a customer, but it's a good way of getting additional land line numbers for a couple of quid a month, plus 10p/min for incoming calls. It comes with its own voicemail system that can email messages to you, and you can set out of hours times too if you want.
  13. And, at the risk of dragging the thread off track slightly, if you don't have a work landline you can get a geographic number for a few quid a month and forward all the calls to your mobile.
  14. They look good, but the diagonal legs aren't what we're after. Do you do other designs? I'm playing PM tag with delabodge and se7enthdevil at the moment, but haven't got anything sorted yet.
  15. The felling licence requirement and exemptions are in the Forestry Act 1967, which doesn't actually give a definition of "a garden". I've only managed to dig out one bit of case law, where the FC prosecuted and the owner won on appeal. He was a property developer with a few quid behind him though! Millionaire who cut down trees in own garden cleared - Telegraph The legal definition of a garden - Telegraph ROCKALL v DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENT FOOD & RURAL AFFAIRS | West Law Report Unless there are TPOs in place then the only authority that will be concerned with unlicensed felling is the FC. It's not a planning issue or anything else to do with the local authority. You could get advice from your local FC officer, but ultimately it is the judge's opinion that counts.
  16. From Forestry Commission - Felling licences exemptions "You do not need a licence for trees that have the following diameters when measured 1.3 metres from the ground 8 cm or less 10 cm or less for thinnings 15cm or less for cutting coppice"

Oh, pretty dedicated. I've always hated it. I'm sure you'll be fine (although I was hobbling around a bit today). Trainers would definitely be better than chainsaw boots!
  18. Can you just go and have a chat with him and see if it's anything specific that's pissing him off? If you give a serious listening to it might placate him a bit. You just might find that it's not too difficult to sort. Nothing to lose anyway.
  19. +1 I've got several of them and they are great value and very tough. The rucksack straps tuck away behind Velcro flaps when you just want to use it as a holdall, which is a nice detail.

    Parkrun

Looking at the historical results for Brighton it was actually quite a bit down on the average. Normally well over 300, and often over 400!

    Parkrun

Did my first park run today. Came 234 out of 298 with a time of 28.55 As a life-long dedicated non-runner I was very happy with that. I didn't even hate it and actually might go next week and see if I can beat it. Park run is very cool - as friendly and non intimidating as you could ever wish, superbly run, and free. Thanks for the heads up rupe!
  22. To be fair I have had a couple of excellent contracts drawn up by a solicitor which were expensive but turned out to be a good investment. On the other hand I have received threatening letters from other solicitors over the years which contained nothing but bluff and bluster and had absolutely no basis in fact or law so I'm not exactly a fan of the species!
  23. In my experience lawyers are at least as likely to spout nonsense as anyone else. You might like to consider whether any other advice he is giving you is equally accurate!
  24. Bear in mind that it will require planning permission so if it's visible from a road or footpath, or your neighbours don't like it, you may end up with a fight on your hands. I'm not suggesting you shouldn't do it, just go into it with your eyes open.
  25. Maybe it varies between providers, but when I had a business loan I didn't take PPI because when I checked it turned out that it didn't cover self-employed.
