  9. Heres a monster for you J and nice butt Martyn
  10. I found an adze stump grinding and cleaned it up with a flap sander on the angle grinder, as long as you dont get it hot you cant go wrong
  11. A mate of mine had a trailer made from ally and the welds were forever cracking I hope for your sake it doesnt flex to much or you may have the same problem

  13. Had to clear a dead Prunus that was blown over in the wind we just had and it was such a nice colour I decided to christen the new carving bar and make an Owl to keep the Hawk company
  14. Its a sure sign that spring is on its way and the sap is raising when you old Veterans start talking about women and not who has the best log store
  15. Thats the plan I hate ringing up butts when timber is so expensive. Even if I run it into sleepers its better than adding to an already large pile of logs, plus timber is an all year round thing rather than logs
  16. Bought a carving bar today for the 200 rear handle and was told to run that slacker than normal to reduce the friction on the nose.
  17. In the summer when roofing felt goes soft I lay old carpet on shed roofs to stop twigs and dead wood from marking the felt, I dont see why it wouldnf work on other roofs as long as the bits are small. Can you borrow another pole and use it to hold the branches while the other set does the cutting ?
  18. Does the job exist ?
  19. Sorry Simon I took it as you had got the job
  20. Maybe you should have thought about it before getting the job Not sure how people can price a job without knowing how they are going to tackle it first
  21. Like you I have tried to sell butts to the mills but they seem to want it for free or give the impression that they will clear it free of charge to help you out:sneaky2: I've bought an Alaskan mill and intend to plank a few bits but to be honest if 1.5 ton of elm is only worth £50 and you have to bust a gut to load large lenghts you better off selling it for fire wood
  22. Id have had a lanyard on the lowering block plus used the chain brake when you pinched the saw
  23. Sorry to de-rail the tread buy is 2 inch the all round best thickness to plank timber out at ?
  24. The bridge looks like it relies on a certain ammount of support not like the avatar
