  3. Ah I get ya now Rob My experience of Acacia dealbeta is that it flourishes down here on the south coast of England, I reduced one 3 years running and it was so vigarous that the neighbour that complained about it taking the light from his office window moaned so much the owner had me remove it, A few days later he bought a blind for the window because the sun reflected off of his computer screen needless to say my customers were'nt happy. After the cold periods we have had over the last few years I have removed quite a few that just turned black and died, they seemed to be the ones that were exposed to wind chill rather than just low tempreture.
  4. Its not ring barked I cut through the stem leaving only a small piece holding the disc on and then severed the remaining bark. Its brittle because the disc is only a few mil thick so I recon the regen will push it off.
  5. Im tempted to go back tomorrow and make the cut again but then I could say the slight slant was part of the plan
  6. I was asked to top this Mimosa and knew that if a frost was to settle on the cut it wood turn the stem black and die back would occur, the owners didnt seem worried and just wanted it topped (big job ) I've wondered in the past when cutting limbs in full sun, weather a thin disc could be left to shelter the cut, I severed the remaining bark and hope that the regen will pop the disc off in the spring. What do you think a waste of time ?
  7. Blow all of the air filters through with the air line, soot charcoal and ash + engines = £
