  1. cheers Kerry was thinking just to find something when we get there, but will it not be too busy this time of year for that?
  2. Any recommendations for a decent camp site in Normandy or Brittany. Too much to choose from on the internet and dont know the region. Looking to pop over for a few days later in the month with the children. Ideally near the sea and a few options of things to do in the area for a couple of active and inquisitive little ones - age 6 & 8. Thanks in advance Terry
  3. you have two ears and one mouth and they should be used in that proportion, but also allow for clutching in the brain before engaging the mouth if you aint living on the edge, you're taking up too much space
  4. just looking for some clarity on the wedding vowels - in the modern world I'm thinking IOU
  5. nice video with the slow-mo to have a good look at what was going on
  6. yeah Paul, nice one on the lounger. I reacon it will be a bit of a talking point with everybody going through there. Terry
  7. I went for a Kawasaki 45cc machine - cheaper than Stihl and Husky and also got 5 year domestic warranty and I think they offer 3 years commercial as well on the same machine. Ripping through heavy bramble and bracken with it at the moment. What mulching blade are you looking at using - looking for recommendations on that myself.
  8.
  9. well done Ty Saw something on the telly last week about the tunnelling that culminated in that crater. Just blows your mind.
  10. felix is straight into the lead with that recipe - gotta give that a go
  11. I have heard of quite a few cases of people having developed sensitivity to wood dust, sometimes to specific species rather than all wood dust, but as TGB said above, any particulate matter is not good for the respiratory system whether it originates from dust in the house, smoking, fires, wood dust etc etc
  12. do I hear early signs of the return of the travelling arborist??
  13. Sad news Matt Terry
  14. if you want more 'feel' then got to be bare foot Used to rock climb bare foot in my youth - never got on with shoes too well in general Did have some rock climbing shoes at one time, but as someone else has mentioned, they are not particularly comfy as they need to be fairly tight to act like a second (grippier) skin
  15. now you're going to need it to defend yourself
  16. and how much cheap plonk had you consumed prior to that effort
  17. Mark, sounds like a common sense and logical approach, however, common sense and logic dont seem to have any place in the modern world. Whether we like it or not everything is going toward refreshing tickets. This applies to virtually all industries these days it seems. If it has not affected you yet, it soon will. The hoards of pen-pushers have to be kept in gainful employment somehow.
  18. Is pitch pine the same as 'Oregon' pine?? got my hands on 4 large pitch pine beams out of an old warehouse in Gloucester docks and used them to good effect on the house renovation. Really nice colour and grain once the paint and resin etc was cleaned off.
  19. having a go with one of the Kawasaki's 45cc. Been excellent so far at chewing through some serious bramble clearing just with the standard blade that came with it. Got the cow horns, but so far only worked relatively flat ground - see how it goes on the slope soon Price far better than Stihl/Husky. Not using commercially, but think they were offering 2 years warranty for commercial use, 5 year domestic if that floats your boat.
  20. When you thinking Martyn??
  21. dont know the relative dates, but any chance the young trees in the first pic are the same as the ones in the last 2??
  22. nice one, although a couple of things to consider 1 - unless the paving drains really well I'd put bricks under all the bearers to preserve the wood a bit longer. this will also improve air flow underneath. 2 - I'd have an overhang on the roof all round to help keep the rain out a bit better ? 3 - might be wrong, but roof seems quite low which means a lot of bending to put wood in and take it out. For the same volume might be better to go taller but narrower? Just my opinion of course - others may disagree terry
  23. missed opportunity there Ben. If you knew they were going to be demolishing half the house, could have done them a 2 for 1 deal
  24. Cheers Geoff, nothing like the classics  The wee boy was looking over my shoulder and is currently rolling around the floor in fits of laughter
