  1. lots of different foams - high expansion to low expansion. Some will stop water some wont, some give an air tight seal, but some let the air through. Just have to get the right one for the job.
  2. weather - shite landslides reported in the Wye valley and water pouring out the hill next to the house. no option but to have a bit of cider I guess Terry
  3. Street view is no good as it is just a snap shot in time taken who knows when. Signs could have been changed since. Good luck with it eggs
  4. Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire:thumbup1:
  5. Was good to get out and meet a few arbtalkers - good plan on your part No, not lost a watch? Terry
  6. Hiya Paul Good to meet you and the rest of the guys. Pity I couldnt hang around on Sunday morning - had to get up to teeside Sunday evening so as to attend a course first thing this morning. You're right there mate - the good stuff doesn't give you a headache If you're ever around our neck of the woods, give me a shout Terry
  7. Yup, the colour is a bit shocking, but it goes down easy. As has been said, doesnt dehydrate you and the real stuff never gives you a headache - or me anyway. Was up at half seven for a slap up full english at the B&B - Old Barn Cottage in Faulkland - Recommended if anybody needs accommodation in the area. Saw Sam on my way past at around half 9 but the caravan seemed deadly quiet As for pint count - lost track, mainly because our 'host' Jon has a habit of topping up everybody on a regular basis before you get to the bottom of the glass. Every time you look at your glass its like you havnt drunk anything, but you're sure you did!! no chance of pacing yourself
  8. Was good to meet everyone. Nice way to kick off the christmas party season Enjoyed the cider - had a bit more than I usually do these days, but it did go down easy Matt, trust you got back to the inn alright - the last bit of the walk was a bit of a blur Terry
  9. looks like I missed the warm up session - got a heating issue, but should be sorted shortly - see everybody 6-ish then
  10. that explains it then Silky - apologies for any slur on your good name
  11. BBQ anytime - if its wet, just put on a hat Bit disappointed there Jon - Silky the city man keeping things on the straight and narrow  Fair play though - if you are the cider man the I am happy to tend to a bit of meat in the barbie
  12. As a non climber with a future interest in rec climbing, wondering about the whole DRT/SRT debate. As an ex rock climber (going back to the 80's) SRT seems logical to me, but sense a split vote on here based on various other threads so would be interested to see something on this thread from the pros covering this subject. PS another good thread to follow on from the rigging one Adam
  13. Just back from 4 weeks away for work and started on a thatchers 'Katy' then went back to the local stuff brewed by my neighbour Getting in a bit of practice for Saturday. Looking forward to meeting up with everybody. Funnily enough tried my first pint of Black rat 4 weeks ago Jon/Silky - are there any arrangements for food or are we just going with the flow on that score?? Terry
  14. cheers Nick was wondering about that my self. Hang in there Steve
  15. Oh yes, building up a thirst as we speak
  16. Cider is good medication - numbs the pain & soothes the soul True, it does make your legs disappear, but at least its a painless experience as before - other medical opinions may differ blah blah
  17. Bob, give the drugs a rest for the night and have some cider - that'll sort you out. Please note, other medical opinions may differ, so consult your doctor before taking my advice
  18. Fair enough, good luck and hope you get in soon. Sounds like you are at that stage where its not as much fun as it was at the start, but hang in there, focus on the end result and it will all be worth it. Any pictures to share?
  19. As mentioned on other posts of this sort I would recommend you pop over to a forum that covers this sort of thing as their main course. This forum is excellent when it comes to tree related stuff, but house building is a mid morning snack on here. Two we found very useful were the Green Building forum and the Navitron forum - there are loads of people there doing what you are doing to a greater or lesser extent as well as professionals who regularly offer free advice.
  20. "Dont get high on your own supply" said by Al Pacino me thinks in some movie. The more you use, the less you have to sell !! The more you use, the more you have to cart in doors, unless you have someone trained up to do it for you of course The more you use, the more you have to get up and feed the fire - see last point. The more you use the less cloths you have to wear - can be a benefit, but of course depends on who you live with
  21. I have been away for a few weeks so guessing up to 2 m3 max since October in a 8kw stove that does all heating (via thermal store & underfloor heating) & HW in a well insulated house with a missus who feels cold regardless of the temperature Only need to burn an hour or two a day to get the thermal store up to temp. Solar does all HW through the summer and probably contributes a bit on sunny days in the winter, but not a lot as the panels are optimised for summer collection. Started using the stove earlier this year than normal due to grey conditions.
  22. A few people seem to be implying that the DJ's should have thought that this outcome was a possibility??? If they had, they would not have made the call however immature they are. I very much doubt they got out of bed thinking they were going to harm anyone that day. Just a tragic coincidence as far as I am concerned. On another note Brick100 your comment "yet two convict related wasters" shows plain ignorance and completely undermines your credibility. I suggest you read up a bit on British history before throwing such comments about!!
  23. correct me if I'm wrong, but the newer 550 has electronics involved which needs to be plugged in to a computor for certain things like your car, so complete DIY maintenance means go for the 346 if you can find one
