  1. My Kubota is the original kx71 with the square cab, its very functional but I fid it all a bit slow. Isnt the Kx71-3 a bit heavy? Kx61-3 i think is equivalent to the Tb125, and I suppose the alternative. Maybe i need to look at specs on flow etc. Havent really heard anyone say bad about the tb125 though
  2. Im just in the market to upgrade from my Kubota KX71, I really like the Takeuchi TB125, or are there any others I should look at? Want to keep it light enough to tow, but heavy enough to use the post knocker and grab effectively! Any thoughts?
  3. I have a post and rail job to do in oak, but the sawmill dont have the timber in to make the size rails I need. Does anyone know who can supply good oak timber near north Hampshire. 3x4" pointed posts 6' long 2.5x1.5" rails 12' long. Need about 20 posts, 40 rails.
  4. Cheers guys, had a bit of a struggle getting a 6 tonner, everyone only seems to have the smaller ones. Its coming from GGR group, about £1000 for the day self drive inc transport. How did you get on operating it Al?
  5. Does anyone have any contacts for hiring a 6+ ton spider crane. Like UNIC URW706 Need one monday ideally for an engineering project, 1 lift only!
  6. WP30 fine and easy to do, just get the flow right. WP36 probably too much hassle to do, buy a cheap tractor and run it on the PTO would be my suggestion.
  7. Hi Scott, I would have thought its to do with the wiring, the load from the winch causing a voltage drop enough to kick the shut off solenoid off
  8. Johny, is this your WP36? Or did you have a WP30 cant remember. WP30 will run fine on it, needs about 37lpm. The flow from the tele goes into the pipe that used to come from the pump. The return pipe is the one that goes into the filter on top of the tank. You still need to keep the oil tank on the processor full for the bar lube A WP36 is more tricky because it needs 2 seperate hydraulic flows, hence why it has 2 pumps. One flow rate is 37lpm and the other is 10lpm off the top of my head, so you would need to find some way of dividing the flow to get that right otherwise they do very weird things!
  9. Hi Scott, make sure both positive and negative run back to the battery. I think the battery neg lead is normally attached to the engine on these, so it doesnt earth to the frame very well. You could test with some jump leads if you wanted to try it before getting extension cables. Is it cutting out the winch motor or the actual chipper diesel engine?
  10. How much is it Jon? PM me
  11. Tacho yes you need one, but I didnt think CPC was relevant for vehicles driven on a B+E licence (ie vehicle under 3500kg GVW)
  12. I think you've paid £20 for the parts, and £128 for the knowledge/computer system to identify and get the parts. Atleast you will know for next time!
  13. Happy Friday! I've just put on some awesome offers on the Balfor firewood machinery on our webshop for this weekend only! Spectrum Webshop Weekend offers! Have a browse round there too, we have some deals on Timberwolf parts, as well as a couple of used machines available. Its always worth keeping an eye out!
  14. Yes no worries! Runs entirely off the PTO. You do see some that want a flow and return hydraulic supply but you'll have atleast that anyway. Need to get in a low gear, and I hope your clutch leg is strong if you are going around obstacles!
  15. Its got a big guard on the back of the cutting unit with a rubber mat bolted on it. That keeps pretty much everything down, though it can clog up a bit so you sometimes have to go over a couple of times like in the picture. Otherwise chainsaw type gear, though I've not been hit by anything yet. Of course always keep the head so its facing down or away, no cutting the far side of the hedge! I'd put a perspex or mesh guard on if I used it much, but in reality I've not had much time to do much more than dos about with it.
  16. Love this tractor, front mounted hedgecutter is brilliant
  17. A PTO driven hydraulic splitter would work perfectly. I've supplied a few to fit on the small kubota compacts now. You can get a real good speed out of them on a PTO pack. Probably about 12 ton max though, partly for the weight on the linkage and also because you are limited on HP on the B7000 size.
  18. A few years ago I designed a hydraulic drive system for a guy who specialises in building amphibious vehicles for tv and film. I would love his job. To be honest, designing and building machinery was really enjoyable too.
  19. I have a friend who has just sold similar timber, similar scenario. I think he got £19 per ton and the buyer collected it.
  20. Albutt attachments are really helpful. They have a brochure available with pictures of all the different types. I've lost mine otherwise I would scan it in!
  21. If you would like to look at the Balfor option (closest equivalent is the A11V) feel free to give me a call 07459 613004 or you can see info on the Spectrum Plant website. The wheels are a bit bigger than they are shown in the picture on the website now, need to get my camera out for a new picture!
  22. Hi Beau, pretty sure you are hitting it from the right side, in pic 2 the side with the flat ground off it. Are there any spacers either side of the ram? If so its probably seized on those. I would suggest trying to get the pin out now, as you are going to have to one day and it will only get more seized! And sods law when you do want to get it out you'll be in a hurry. So best to get it out now, clean it up, grease and put back together. I would get some easing oil on it, and a bit of heat maybe and give it a bit of a hitting.
  23. Just put mine up for sale if you are interested? 390t with loader
  24. Hi Mick, its all about balance and size. The design of the alpine (engine sticking out over the front) means that with an attachment on the back they have a much better weight distribution than a conventional compact tractor. Due to that and their much lower center of gravity, you'll take these places you'd never dream of with a conventional tractor. I've has alpines sideways across 35 degree slopes and up and down 40+ degree slopes. You cant even walk on that normally! Also, they tend to be more compact and lighter than an equivalent conventional tractor. Park a 80HP alpine next to a farm tractor and it'll be half the weight and 2/3 the size. They therefore lend themselves to tight access and sensitive sites. Downsides are cost I suppose, and also sometimes a lack of ground clearance in woodland.
  25. Hi Guys, Balfor were looking for a new importer, to focus more on the Balfor range and improve the service and product presence. Spectrum plant fitted the bill to push Balfor products forwards with the new ranges that they are introducing and the new products they have in the pipeline. Balfor have some great new products to come and Spectrum are keen to present them to the UK market! I had been speaking to Spectrum previously as they were expanding quickly with the Timberwolf chippers and FSI ginders to help with the sales of those. Adding the Balfor range of course made an additional person at Spectrum very much necessary! I left Riko about 6 weeks ago when Spectrum started speaking to Balfor so as not to end up a middle man (and spent a month driving tractors in the sun!), before recently starting at Spectrum to head up the Balfor products in their range. So just a career move for me, and its great to be able to continue working with Balfors range that I already know! So give me a call if you need anything, tech help, parts, or maybe a new machine. My new number at Spectrum is 07495 613004 Jim
