  1. Thanks for the tips. I was hoping that a member had one that I could take on short term hire. I agree that taking one on such short hire is not cost effective for a hire company. Ben has given me some good leads though. Thank you.
  2. Bit lost on where to start here. I'm going to need a chipper, about 8" capacity for a day. Have a tractor with 60HP at the shaft which should run a chipper of that size I would have thought. Any ideas of places in North Hants that hire this sort of thing? Probably only need it for a few hours! About 30 small dead leylandi to make smaller.
  3. Hi Corylus, did you ever get to the bottom of what brand winch you had? A 30D winch is a new one one me! If you are looking for a big winch we have an 8 ton electro hydraulic winch with hydraulic unwinding and a wide butt plate that is ex-display from the APF show. Its an awful lot of winch for the money. I think there is a 4 ton winch up at Tockwith too.
  4. Hi Folks, We have had one of our chainsaw winches stolen off the stand at Lamma on the night of the 20th (picture attached). Manufacturer on the plate is Viig, model is VIK615 We'd rather like it back! It should be fairly unique in this country, so if anyone sees one then its probably ours! You can contact me on here, or Riko UK 01420 487300 (all our details on http://www.alpinetractors.com), if you dont want to leave details then fine, we'd just like the winch back! Thanks for any and all help
  5. Hello Ady, if you want to discuss further please email us. I'll be happy to try and help find a solution. Alot of people are happy with the placement of the wheels, we also supply a trailer unit for people who want a bit more portability. This is the first I have heard about the trouble you are having. Now I really must go and get a life, I dont work weekends!
  6. You can be both employed and self employed at the same time. You can pay tax on PAYE and also fill in a self assesment. I was unsure and found an accountant who was very helpful. Just ask around other self employed people in your area who they use. On the taxmans website there are pretty specific rules to determine if you are employed or self employed.
  7. We had a new salesman start just this week!
  8. Very sorry for the delay in getting back to you Richard, I have the emails you sent this week in the inbox, but the sheer volume of enquiries (and prep for Lamma show) is making it difficult to keep up at the moment. I will give it my full attention first thing on monday when I'm back at work. If anyone has enquired and I havent got back to them yet please dont think we are ignoring you, we will get back to you. Usually it is within a day or 2, but there is a bit of a backlog of work after Christmas.
  9. Hi Lyn Ed, we have a petrol driven conveyor coming over next week, let me know if you would like some pics of it. Thanks Chris! Jim
  10. Hi Tommer, I have 2 90's at the moment both with high miles. One has 240,000km on the clock. Both great trucks, but way too small! I'm expecting to buy a 130 with similar mileage, but I dont think they are worth some of the prices the dealers are asking. The green 1998 tipper on the exmod site is nice, but I'd say that was worth 7.5 maybe 8k to me. Not 9.5k. Maybe I'm just a bit off the mark, or it might be an exceptionally tidy truck.
  11. Thanks all, a couple more places to try there. Some of the dealers seem to be a bit optimistic on their pricing. I have seen a few 130s with 100k+ miles on them for brand new 110 money. Then again, if they can sell them for that then fair play to them.
  12. Hi all, I'm on the lookout for a reasonably tidy Defender 130 single cab 200 or 300tdi chassis cab. Not too bothered about the body as I intend to fit one of my own design. Tried the usual suspects for finding one, but most only seem interested in selling one with a tipper on the back. I would appreciate hearing about any that you have heard of, or if you are selling one yourself. Getting tired of going everywhere at 10mph in the n/a 90! Thanks Jim
