  1. To be fair, as soon as you are moving its got more go than the landrover (and mine was a fiddled with TD5). I seem to be averaging about 25mpg with alot of towing and a slightly heavy foot. The landrover was 10-20mpg. Its pretty hilly around here, but its no Porlock hill! Wow thats steep!
  2. Mint! Cheers! I dont have a Mrs Need to find some seat covers to invest in too. I figure its small beans to save destroying the truck.
  3. Yes, mines full of grass and sawdust already! And you are right, carpets are a bitch to clean! Where did you get the mats? Do you have seat covers in yours? Jon, traction control works superbly in these, way better grip on road than the landrover. I have the same tyres as I did on my landrover. The Landrover is like punishment to drive compared to this. The Landrover is much more practical though, but I think mainly because I wasn't scared to scratch it.
  4. Tidy truck Johny, guessing its not that shiny any more! Similar story for me with finding an ex-demo and local dealer! Jon, they have high/low, but you have to stop to change. It wont change on the move. Also, no 2 wheel drive low box, so its not good to use 4low it on hard surfaces. Once you are moving it tows better than the landrover. No grip problems and much more stable. The rear suspension is really solid but still rides well unladen. Scraggs, I would say my initial reaction is that it isnt as good as the landrover offroad, but that said I've not needed to go into 4WD even on forest tracks yet. I am on mud tyres though.
  5. Thanks, seems it might not just be me. I've onyl had it 2 weeks, so hopefully its still a case of getting the hang of it. How many miles have you got on yours?
  6. I got the Yukon, with a bunch of stuff bolted on. Was looking about on ebay, auto trader etc, and also rang round a load of dealers to see what they could find. Eventually found one about 150 miles from home, had to get them to change a few things and also haggled a bit. Which one have you got?
  7. Ex demo, the only way I could get what I wanted with my budget. There really wasnt a huge amount of choice.
  8. I'm not rich enough!
  9. So I went a bit wild a got a Isuzu D-max to replace the Landrover. However, I'm finding it a bit hard to get off the line with a heavy trailer. It just seems a bit high geared in 1st. I'm wondering if anyone else is finding the same, or if I'm just too used to using low box in the Landrover and need to learn better clutch control!?
  10. The vosa test is aimed at making sure you have used correctly rated and approved components, and it meets basic rules (lighting etc). It doesnt test quality of build, suitability of design, or the actual strength of the trailer. In theory I could put a trailer made out of 1mm folded metal through a IVA test plated to 3500kg as long as the axles and hitch were rated as such.
  11. The NFU have been unhelpful for me too, despite insuring 3 tractors with them for years and being insured by them to drive any vehicle as an employee of another company. I just dont think they want to have younger drivers, which is frustrating but fair enough I suppose. Aviva insured my landrover when I was 18. Then I used Adrian Flux (though they have become less useful in recent years)
  12. I know Hazlewood Trailers over in Evesham can do a digger trailer that only weighs 500kg. But that one on ebay that Eddie linked to looks a good price!
  13. Give me a call if you are desperate or you need the Deere 445 or tractor etc.
  14. Keep us updated on how it goes. I think these new saws are a bit softer than the old ones, just not as robust.
  15. I find the throttle response to be a bit delayed/flat too. It doesnt seem as sharp as the older saws, but it doesnt really matter. Do you guys find that they dont use alot of bar oil even with the oiler turned up to full?
  16. Trailer with removable clamshell bucket for clearing streams and ditches
  17. Yes, this is what I have been recommending. I have supplied a couple on linkage mount and advised the customer that they ought to make brackets to stiffen it against the tracor back end. I still think you are better off having it on the trailer, but appreciate that isnt always the best solution.
  18. Hi, web address is http://www.alpinetractors.com Best to drop me an email on [email protected] Thanks Jim
  19. Its a nice bit of kit! I think the customer has a couple of them.
  20. Essentially, yes. The cranes come with linkage mounting, but they bolt to the trailer. So you would have to unbolt (I think 9 bolts) to remove the crane. I'm not sure how that compares to the botex as I have never demounted a botex from a trailer. I must admit though, I would be extremely wary of supplying a crane that lifts 3/4 ton at 7m out to be fitted on a linkage! I think you would start snapping linkage bits putting that sort of force on it.
  21. Hi Lumber, I have had a 362 since about Christmas. Bought it as it wasnt too big for a small bar, but also has a bit of go for a bigger bar. I'm not a heavy user, it tends to get a few days flat out, then nothing for a week or so. Its overall a good saw, dont really have any complaints. I use it with a 15" and 25" bar. I use chisel chain 3/8 on the 15" and it cuts well, nice and fast, and also use tungsten chain on the 25" bar which it also handles surprisingly well (I know the bar is too big, but I dont want to run a second saw). The chain brake handle broke on about the 2nd day of use, seems a bit weak to be honest. Occasionally it will stall off idle if its been ticking over for a minute or so, but thats only rare. Otherwise occasionally it runs a bit lumpy, but you give it a blast on full throttle with no load for a few seconds and it seems to clear itself (think it re-sets the carb). Interested to know how you are finding it?
  22. Hi Chris, Yes, we can do a 3 ton trailer with 2 wheel drive, and a 4.7m reach crane. Lifts 350kg at full reach! Retail price would be about £9500+vat
  23. Some of the smaller trailers
  24. Hi All, Just thought I would post some pictures of some of the forestry trailers we have recently suppled. We started importing the 7+ ton forestry trailers from Oniar about 18 months ago (taking over from a previous importer), and also the 1.5-5 ton trailers from Coma about the same time and since then this range of trailers has become increasingly popular. The factorys offer an exceptional range of strong but well priced trailers.
  25. So I can do a full proportional electonic control system (8 sections) for about £5000+vat. That comes with the mini joysticks as in forwarders etc. Apparently fitting it can be a little complicated, as you have to program the unit to get the movement on the joysticks to correspond to the right ram speeds. Full wireless version of the above is about £6000+vat
